A smoothie anyone?

I had two really ripe bananas, even too ripe for a banana sandwich which I love, so I used them and some frozen assorted fruit pieces to make a smoothie.
I used orange juice as the liquid (and you know me, I added a little sugar) and I'm drinking it as I myLot.
Smoothies are a perfect way for me to get some fruit in my diet. I can't eat most fruit raw (IBS stomach issues), so this works well for me.
There are all kinds of fruit that can be used, I just use whatever I have on hand.
Do you like smoothies? What do you put in yours?

I don't care for smoothies but Pretty makes them all the time. She freezes banana chunks to use in them.

@1creekgirl She LIKES them overripe... I prefer eating bananas while they're still partly green. I like the flavor best then.

@DaddyEvil My husband likes them fairly green, too. I can't eat them green, but not overly ripe, either.

That's a great way to use over ripe bananas and when frozen can take the place of ice cubes.

I have smoothies but I get them in bottles from the supermarket! I do have a soup maker that has a drinks setting so I could make them myself and I have been meaning too but never seen to get round to it. Have you got any tips on creating a good smoothie?

I bought a small blender so it wouldn't take up much counter space. I love whatever kind of fruit I have (I buy the bags of assorted frozen fruit chunks which works well.) I especially like bananas, strawberries, peaches, and pineapple. Some people add cinnamon and use milk or yogurt. I don't do well with dairy, so I use orange juice.

@1creekgirl Oh, if it was me I'd use soy milk or other plant based milk instead of dairy. I really need to get myself a blender so I can do things like home made sauces and dressings and things. I also get frozen vegetables but it's mainly frozen diced onion and frozen butternut squash chunks. My Mum gets frozen sweetcorn and frozen peas.

I was just going to ask how the kale tasted. I bet the coconut milk is good.

@1creekgirl It was. I wanted a way to get the healthy kale and turmeric without the gross taste. A few timed I substituted kale for other vegetables.

@1creekgirl They are good together. I like to put frozen fruit in it too if I have it handy.

When I use the frozen fruit chunks, it takes the place of ice cubes. I bet the blackberries and banana were yummy.

I guess they're similar to milkshakes. It's a good way for me to get fruit to be tolerated.

Thanks, Carol. I'm finally good after the IBS and UTI (I'm just full of initials, lol) Now the count down for the upcoming wedding has begun. I think I'm finished shopping, just need some new earrings.

I think drinking a smoothie is one of the healthiest ways to stay healthy. Putting fruits and some green vegetables in a blender to drink allows you to get all your nutrition needs. When we take care of our insides. It looks very good on the outside.

I agree that we all need more fruits and veggies. And for those of us whose tummies can't handle raw foods, smoothies are ideal.
