Birthday Hangover: Some Good, Some Not So Good News

My annual trip around the sun culminated last weekend with a trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida, with family and loved ones. We had an amazing time (as we always do), and got to ride every ride and experience every attraction we set out to accomplish.
But as with many great celebrations, a hangover followed this week. Not literally (I don't drink alcohol), but figuratively. On Tuesday, my first day back after our 3-day trip, my back started bothering me, and has continually gotten worse as the week wore on. Some may blame it on old age, but I like to blame it on the thrill rides and excessive walking at Disney. I'm at the point where it's difficult to walk without extreme pain, but I have hope since I know it's muscular related and not spinal related. I've started doing my stretching exercises again, coupled with lots of heating pads, so in about a week or so the muscles will start loosening up and feeling better.
The not-so-good news is that out of the five of us that went to Disney, four have tested positive for Covid and are currently sick. Thankfully, the strain going around right now is a mild one, and all four are vaccinated and boosted. The expectation is that everyone will be as good as new after about 4-6 days of being sick.
The great news? I'm the one that didn't get Covid! lol. I've been taking the at-home test every day this week, and it has been showing negative each time. Plus, I feel great (other than my hurt back). My girlfriend says I have super immunity from all the multiple times of having Covid over the past few years. I tend to agree with her.
That's my news for this week. I've been playing doctor and trying to keep my daughter and girlfriend feeling as comfortable as possible (the other two--my son and his gf) are back home 4 hours away in south Florida and resting comfortably.
Anyway, happy Friday everyone! Anyone else have interesting news from this week?

I am so sorry that your family have covid. Thank goodness they have the a milder strain. You’re having to take care of them with your bad back so that makes it worse. I hope everyone is improving and will be well in a few days. Everyone get all the rest you can.

I came home from work today and my back was hurting so bad I just wanted to lay down in bed with my heating pad, but I had to take care of my sick loved ones instead.

@moffittjc That’s too bad. What bad luck you and your family have had with covid. I hope this will be the last time. Several of my family have had covid but I’ve escaped it so far. I hope your crew will be up and about in a few days. And hopefully your strained back will be okay.

@moffittjc So many families have lost loved ones to covid. My heart goes out to all of them. Thank goodness the new strain of covid is less serious. Glad the stretches are helping your back. Hopefully it will soon be back to normal.

They got Covid and you got back pain... not the best for a great day at the park.
Two months ago, I got up from my chair and I had so much back pain that I could not even keep straight. I got some pain pill during a few days, ignored my husband who insisted to see a doctor and in a few days I was fine.
I wish you to get well soon as well the four who are Covid positive.

My boss--who's recovering from knee surgery--gave me some of his pain pills to help get me through the weekend. I'm not one who likes to take pills, but if the pain is really bothering me this weekend I will take the meds just to give me some relief. I'm continually doing stretching exercises and using the heating pad, so hopefully within a few days it starts to loosen up the tight muscles that are causing me so much pain.

My back pulled a stunt last Sunday that lasted a couple of days. I have a prescription for muscle relaxers that helped a lot..In my case I would say my back hurt from inactivity. I hope you are right that your covid visitation will be a light one. I have not had it so far, that I know of.

My boss gave me one of his muscle relaxer pills today, and it worked wonders! He also gave me a couple more to get me through the weekend. I hate taking pills, but man I felt so much better today after that medicine kicked in!

@much2say Thank you. I don’t ever want to go through a bad Covid experience again either. Being on my deathbed twice was enough for me!
Back is doing a little better with each passing day. Back massages, stretching and heat therapy are doing there job to relax and loosen the muscles.

Well, considering I'm still in the mix of it with two sick people in my house, I can only keep my fingers crossed and hope that my immune system can keep fending off any attacks from the virus. So far so good. I really don't want to be sick with the virus again. I've had it too many times already.

@1creekgirl That what I made last night! Rice, peas and carrots, and chicken. I wanted to add potatoes, but realized after I started cooking that I didn't have any potatoes left. I was intending it to be a nice chicken stew. It still came out amazing even though I didn't add potatoes.

Still tested negative as of this morning. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Loaded up on OJ, water, and fruits and vegetables to help boost my immune system. Even made homemade chicken soup last night for everyone. A good homemade soup always gives everyone a little boost.
My boss gave me some of his pain pills and muscle relaxers to help get me through the weekend. I don't like taking pills, so I only plan to take them if absolutely necessary. I find that constantly doing my stretching exercises and applying a heating pad affords me great temporary relief. At some point over the next week or so the tight muscles that are the source of my pain will finally start to loosen up and relax.

Sorry to hear about the back issue and others are positive for covid. I came to my son's new place for the weekend. He is now five hours from me. I needed the break from helping with the new twins. Other then that, nothing new going on here. Going to Vegas June 20th to 23rd.

@nela13 Everyone else’s backs seem to be fine. I just have a bad back from multiple car accidents a few years ago. Thankfully, it’s all muscular and not spinal, so as like no as I do my back stretches and exercise regularly, my back will stay healthy and strong.

Two of them live with me, so I don't really have options for keeping away from them. It's been a week now, and I think I would have shown symptoms by now if I was going to get it.
I agree that I have no time for my back to be acting up! Thankfully, we're a month away from our next national paintball tournament, so I have plenty of time to heal and get ready.

Hope your family recovers quickly from Covid and it's sad to hear that's what they got on that fun time at Disney. Most people get a tee-shirt

Sad some family got covid, but glad you're ok! Soon you'll be good as new. Take care all!
My week same, shopping as needed. Finally found toothpaste tube squeezer! Surprisingly enough, CVS, Walmart & Walgreens, don't have any. Found it at Daiso. We had fire alarm testing today. Bus fares went up. Friday, was at Safeway, went to restroom, li and behold, with only 2 stalls, someone was heaving like a covid heave.... I prayed silently for her... someone poked their head in the restroom, "a possible covid person in here"... I felt so sorry for her. I left, tested the next day, negative.

I've never heard of a toothpaste squeezer! lol
I try to avoid public restrooms at all costs, due to the fact that we don't know what kind of germs and viruses there are in those things. But I also understand that sometimes we have no choice! lol
Glad you tested negative. I tested again this morning and I'm still showing negative as well.
