Wimbledon Men's Final Tennis Match is on tonight

We don’t watch a lot of sport, hardly any at all really but I might stay up late tonight to watch the final of the men’s tennis at Wimbledon. It promises to be a really fiery match and there is an Australian playing. His name is Nick Kyrgios and he is so obnoxious and arrogant I think I’ll be barracking for Novak Djokovic who is nearly as bad. Djokovic wasn’t allowed to play in the Australian Open as he wouldn’t reveal his immunisation status. I’m sure players at this level have a lot to put up with but being rude to umpires and slamming balls round out of temper without any regard as to who they might hit doesn’t go down well with me. Some elite players and celebrities sometimes think they are beyond the law. The photo is of an old-fashioned tennis press. These were used to stop wooden tennis racquets from becoming warped.

I remember those tennis press, my brother had one. Is Novak Djokovic less arrogant than Nick Kyrgios? I remember when Djokovic hit a Judge with his ball.

@LadyDuck I think so too. Last night Kyrgios was abusing the people in his own box! This seems outrageous to me.

Although it might be hard to believe, I think Djokovic is less arrogant. Kyrgios is rude beyond belief and has hit ball boys and a child in the crowd.

yes my first tennis racquet came with a press, but I didnt always use it , hence it had a bit of a bend in it - John McEnroe Dunlop Maxply, not sure they even make racquets now

I think ours was a Dunlop. They (the racquets) have changed shape quite a bit since those days.

It would be an interesting final and obviously Djokovic is the favorite but nothing is certain in life and sports!

That's true. I'm not sure how often they've played each other or what the results were but I'm sure the match won't be boring.

Kyrgios should have been smacked a bit more as a kid. His behaviour is abominable.

@judyev so many ‘big’ names in sport, music, film etc never really seem to have grown up. Pity it’s become so professionalised and commercial.

Pete Sampras was an exception, I never saw him being so short-tempered. I always saw him playing calmly.

@58lordstreet He doesn't need them now to come to Australia but I think, with his visa cancelled, he can't come back for three years anyway. But I might have that wrong.

Sounds like be a pretty well watched match and I concur people who think they above the law just need to stop, but we do always allow it because some how a lot of people want to be them.

I just watched the match and Nick Kyrgios was up to his usual antics when things weren’t going his way. Didn’t put Djokovic off though as he won his 7th Wimbledon. Krygios was lucky to be there as he should have been kicked out for his bad behaviour when he played Tsitsipas.

@JudyEv The way he was shouting at and abusing his support box I can well believe he has assaulted someone. The Wimbledon officials were far too lenient with him.

I just wish they would ban him altogether, not that he'd care much. He has more than enough money for the rest of his life. He is facing an assault charge in Australia when he comes back.

@Orson_Kart I think so too but I guess they see him as a great drawcard despite of (or because of) his behaviour.

Australian tennis has been strong ever since. Nostalgia comes when Rod Laver, John Newcomb, M Court, Evon Goolagong and Wendy Turnbull come to memory. I feel that in tennis too old is gold, due to various reasons.

Novak Djokovic was too good for Nick Kyrgios, I would have loved to see Nadal vs Novak final but unfortunately Nadal got injured. Looking forward to the FIFA world cup
