Beautiful Tree Cut

When I went to the mailbox today I saw something surprising. A huge truck was pulled up to one of the large shade tree in the complex. Half a dozen or more men were gathered around the tree and the tree was being cut down branch by branch. The men were staring up watching the tree come down section by section. Nobody was in the truck at any controls that might have been there, the men were keeping the branches in a pile an a small machine was taking them to a chipping machine. I’ve racked my brain trying to determine how the tree was coming down. The last trees cut here were cut by men climbing the trees and cutting it down piece by piece from the top. I’m just not clear on the new technology. Anyway I hated to see another beautiful tree go. I asked one of the men if the tree was rotted inside and he said no it wasn’t. I saw the chunks falling down and I saw no rot.

How sad. Trees are priceless and to me should not be cut down if they are healthy ..... we need all the trees we can get or we won't have enough oxygen for the human population

We do need all our trees. We had rows of trees on each side of the parking lot until a few years they cut more than half the trees down. Something was said of fear of trees falling on the apartments. These are green sturdy trees but I wouldn’t be surprised now if all out trees are cut down.

@RubyHawk We need more trees, finally the government is planning to plant more trees every year. This is good, trees are also good to clean the pollution of the air.

Yes, we do need more trees @LadyDuck but seedlings and saplings can't do what a mature tree does. I pray it's not too late as many trees require years to mature.

This is sad, the trees are those that help to maintain a cooler temperature during summer. I do not know why we continue to cut trees.

@RubyHawk This is a shame, this is not the way we are going to save the planet.

I don’t know either. It’s sad to see so many of our trees cut down. Here every time a subdivision is built every tree will be cut down before the building begins. Such a waste of oxygen producing trees.

@LadyDuck No it isn’t. We need all our trees.

Did they give a reason for it? Was it intrferring with the power lines? Our Electric co op was giving away shorter trees at the picnic, there reasoning was the tall ones can interefere wtih power lines and can cause outages. Most of the wires are underground here though.

@RubyHawk If it was threatening buildings or impairing visibilty it could be a reason. Otherwise it is ridiculous to cut down cooling trees, and not enviromentally friendly at all.

@snowy22315 It’s environmentally appalling to-cut stable trees without good reason. They produce our oxygen.

I don’t see any power lines. I suppose they are underground. I haven’t been to the office to ask yet but I will when I go down there. Although the office workers usually have little information.

I bet the tree is giving a good shade. It is a shame that it has to be taken down.

it was bad but I found out a storm had loosened its roots and it was leaning. It had to be cut down for safety.

I see, trees can be hazardous to underground things or above electric lines and many cut. My last trip to Marukai saw a shady tree cut to thy ground... no more shade from it now.

We don’t have overhead lines and I don’t believe there were lines under the trees because the trees are in a line and on the other side of the curb and for Whatever reason it’s one more tree removed. They cut down our beautiful red buds a few years ago.

@RubyHawk Birds must have been mystified too. I understand, just about half a block away in a parking lot, there were orchid trees, all cut now for a few years ago now. Miss the beautiful flowers. I used to see saffron finches, not anymore since trees gone.

There must have been something about the tree that someone decided to needed to go, but it is a shame. It is what it is, though, I suppose. As for the technology, removing trees has become quite easy to do these days.

I couldn’t believe it. The workers were clearing the branches as they fell while the machinery kept cutting the tree. I stood back and watched for a good while.

If the trees are cut because they are dangerous to the passengers or something like that, then it is reasonable. I hope there will be a good reason to remove these big trees.

That's sad, unless they took the tree down because it was dangerous and could fall and hurt someone or it was getting too close to power lines.

That’s true, but it wasn’t for any of those reasons. I will ask and they could have a plausible reason

Sometimes trees need to be cut down for a variety of reasons. We refuse to cut some of ours years ago, then a storm came and uprooted them, causing damage to neighbours property!

I would have thought that but these are strong sturdy trees. There was no rot on the tree and these trees are only slightly taller than the apartments. I don’t see how they could fall on the apartments.

It’s very unlikely the city clerk was consulted. The tree was cut down so nothing will bring it back but I intend to ask at the office next time I’m there just out of curiosity.

It certainly is a mystery as to why they would cut down a perfectly healthy tree. That does sound like an interesting way to cut down the tree. Modern technology makes me shake my head sometimes

It seems strange that a perfectly nice and healthy shade tree would be taken down in the fashion that it was. It almost makes me wonder if there was a weak spot in it or something.

The worker I asked said no, he didn’t know why they wanted the tree cut. Of course the owners can cut all the trees if they like.

It's such a shame when a tree that took so long to get to whatever height it is, is then cut down in a matter of hours. I do hope they had a good reason to do it.

It was cut up and put in a chipper. The only thing it could be used is mulch but they probably went in a dump.
