School kids are overwhelmed by a visit from Keith Urban

Vince just called me to watch a video of school-kids in the town of Urbenville, on the coast of northern New South Wales in Australia. At the start of the pandemic, students would sing for the Urbenville Aged Care facility residents while standing outside. When restrictions were tightened, they turned to Facebook to post songs of hope and support. The sixteen students, taught by a husband and wife team, are great fans of country singer and song-writer, Keith Urban, and sing a lot of his songs. They wrote to invite him to their concert. While other commitments stopped him attending, he was impressed by what they were doing and organised a surprise Zoom visit. He spoke to the students for some minutes. Urban donated sixteen guitars, one for each student, and has invited them all to his next concert in Brisbane. I’m sure that will be appreciated more than the air guitars that, as a joke, the headmaster had promised them. One lad in the front row is so overcome he can’t stop crying. At one stage, his little mate puts an arm around him and gives him a hug then offers him a handkerchief. I was nearly crying myself at that point. It is a real feel-good video clip.
