A park bench in the bush

On one of the hillsides on the place where we’re house-sitting, we came across this park bench. We knew it was there somewhere but it is very unobtrusive. We found ourselves peering hard into the forest to try to pick it out. The nice thing is that it isn’t just comfortable to sit on but it also swings. The owner bought it for his wife as a ‘thank you’ after he was hospitalized for some time. She drove an hour each way daily to visit him. You have a nice view over the house from here too. I think we might spend a few hours here maybe reading or just enjoying the view.

I would place some cushions there to make it even more comfortable.

You'd need to take the cushions up each time or else put them in something to keep the moisture out.

In that case, he'll have to find a nearby rock to sit on!

I would bring a carafe of coffee up there to enjoy while I set up my camera to take pot shots of birds and such. I hope they will ask you to house sit more often.

Over here you find benches in unusual places, normally with a plaque attached telling why it is there. My favourite was in a park and the plaque said it was in a memory of a man who hated the park and everyone in it!

@JudyEv Waiting for public transportation would be so much better if the benches at bus stops rocked.

@Chellezhere Haha - maybe but then you'd get someone who rocked too much or someone who didn't want to rock at all.

A swinging park bench. It looks so good with that artistic tree carving at the back. And interesting to notice the mechanism that makes it swing. So nice of the husband to get this as a Thank you gift

@JudyEv That's what even I thought of. That surface doesn't look suitable for long sitting hours. Cushions would make it more comfortable.

That is quite an interesting share. The owner showed a great gesture. This bench can also serve as a place for de-stressing where one can just watch the surroundings and be at calm and peace.

I have no idea what metal it is. Maybe cast iron or whatever metal they make park benches out of.

@JudyEv I remember how those were made, the sister of my paternal grandmother had one. I liked when we visited her, she had a beautiful home.

It blends in to the background. Even in the photo it's not that easy to make-out.

I noticed that its a swinging chair as soon as I looked at the photo. I think that if you carried along a little cushion it might be much more comfortable, and you'll spend more time there. Its like your very own private 'lovers lane' spot.
