A wash-basin - pretty but not very practical

We are house-sitting on a farm in Grass Valley, Western Australia. There is a small cottage very close to the house and that is where we sleep. There is a shower, toilet, bedroom and small sitting room but no cooking facilities. We mostly live in the main house but shower and sleep in the cottage. We have good internet in the house.
The photo shows the bathroom basin which is pretty hopeless if you’re trying to wash your face. These are okay as a toilet wash-basin but not much use otherwise. But I do love the colour of it.

I’m glad they don’t make ‘em like that any more. Nothing but hot out of one tap, nothing but cold out of the other.
But that is a lovely color, you’re correct!

I love separate taps. I have one of those single mixer taps on my tub and I can never get the temperature right... it's either too hot or too cold.

I remember my surprise the first time I visited the UK. The water came out from the same single tap, but NOT mixed, I could feel the cold water separated from the hot. I hope they evolved in the meantime.
This wash basin is too narrow and too "flat", not practical at all.

I remember that the first time I was in Europe, my sister traded her apartment in Lausanne for an ancient house in the middle of nowhere in Belgium for a week during summer. The house had no toilet inside the house and you had to go down the stairs, open the kitchen door walk to the countryside where the wooden toilet was. JEEZZZ!!! I had several such problems in Europe when staying in very old houses.

Somebody wasn't thinking when they installed that sink.

@JudyEv But how would you use hot and cold together? A central faucet type thingy would have been better.

@DaddyEvil I thought you were just talking about the narrowness of it. The separate hot and cold taps was the first things Vince noticed about it. We did find a plug for it so we could blend water in the basin if we wanted to.

I like the color but can see that it's not practical.

Outstanding to look at. Not so much to use.
