A backyard waterfall

Christmas is over in Australia. We had a very enjoyable day at our niece’s. I took this photo of the waterfall in her backyard. There is a lovely al fresco area where fourteen of us enjoyed a delicious dinner which included all sorts of barbecued meats and a variety of salads. Also on offer were barbecued mango halves. The weather was very pleasant, not really as hot as we expected. In the evening, we were able to Facetime with our son and his wife in Ireland. They also played a few tunes for us on concertina and violin. My BIL and niece played piano and flute and we sang a couple of songs for them. Then we Facetimed with another niece and her husband in England. I hope you all had/are having an enjoyable day too.

Yes, except for eating leftovers, you'd hardly know Christmas had been.

That sounds lovely especially to be able to see & see your son. Who would have though this was possible many years ago. Hmm BBQ mango sounds interesting! I love mangoes. Happy Christmas.

Thanks for the greetings and I hope your Christmas was enjoyable too. I remember worrying about how long we were spending on the phone and what it was going to cost. It was lovely to see and hear them in this way.

Oh, I always wondering what is Facetime anyway, since I don't use social media platform much. Is that one of the social media, or application as well? I love to view backyard waterfall. It's like, viewing the nature from up close.

I don't know if it's social media or what you'd call it but you can ring someone and you can see each other on your phone or computer and you can talk to each other.

@Adie04 I'm sorry but I don't have any idea. I think it or something like it is on most phones. Maybe it's an app.

@JudyEv Oh I see.... So for your case, the app is built in when you buy the phone?

The picture above itself makes me feel warmer! Mornings are quite cold with chilly winds testing one's spirits! Cold winds test even during the afternoon, perhaps the kind of weather you have in June or July. Glad that you had a nice and active time!

It's nice to see each other's faces. If we couldn't do this, it would mean we wouldn't have 'seen' our sons for the four years of the pandemic. They would probably find we had aged a lot in four years if it weren't for Facetime.

So have I. Luckily I live in a desert so icy or snow conditions are very rare. So far there hasn't been any this season and I pray there won't be any in January or February.

I hope you and Vince had a very wonderful and merry Christmas. I love the fact that technology has allowed us to be able to stay in touch with friends and loved ones all over the world, almost as if they were right there at our side.

@JudyEv The only thing terrible about the weather in my locale was that it was much colder than what we normally can tolerate, but at least we didn't have snow or blizzards or icy roads or any of that stuff they deal with in other parts of the country. Actually, this bad weather worked to our advantage, as tens of thousands of flights were cancelled, meaning all those people who were flying to Florida to visit Disney World couldn't make it. The theme park was noticeably less crowded than what it should have been.

@moffittjc It's an ill wind .... and all that jazz. We were in Luxor, Egypt, just after a tourist bus was machine-gunned. I think we were the only tourists there but we could spend as long as we wanted going through the tombs, etc.

@JudyEv I love to Skype, but my family does Facetime. I found out the only way I can Facetime would be through messenger on Facebook. I deleted my account over a year ago.

@just4him I don't really know how it's actually done as someone else always does the connecting, etc but I know they said it was Facetime. I'm sure Skype would be just as good.
