Portions are getting smaller

I use to buy these frozen hake fillets, it is delicious, healthy and my kids love it but lately I notice that the portions are getting smaller. It is almost half of the size it used to be!
I read somewhere that the inflation is making the brands reduce the size of their products, the price is also higher than before, so we are paying more for less quantity!!!
Have you notice this trend in your country?

That trend started about five years ago in the US. Sugar that used to come in 5 pound bags was suddenly only available in 4 pound bags for the same price that we paid for the 5 pound bag.

@nela13 It's a way to increase profit ratios.

@nela13 cheating us is absolutely right. I wonder if there is really a shortage of certain items or is it just greed from the suppliers

That fish looks really good. But yes, alas, I do notice similar here. Prices go up, portions, quantity and quality go down... :/

@nela13 Unfortunate that companies feel they have to do that to save a few cents in production.

The worse scenario is when portions get smaller and the prices double up.

Because they only have 2 choices - retain the same price but make it smaller, change the ingredients, etc vs. retain the size and quality but raise the price. It's a balancing act.

This is happening in our country too. Portions haven't reduced but the rates have increased a lot.

@aninditasen but that isn't fair to the consumers.

I have been noticing this for some time now. Portions, tins and packets are all getting smaller. The only thing getting bigger is the price. I also notice that chocolate biscuits and snacks have very little chocolate on them and some of it does not even taste like real chocolate anymore.

@lazydaizee Correct, they try to compensate the packaging to cover up the poor quality.

It is terrible, the inflation in my country is so high that every time I go to the supermarket it seems price raise every week.
