A New Year's Eve Mini Adventure

I'm convinced that it's healthy to get out and about every once in awhile. Of course with the cold/pandemic one of must be careful and take calculated risks that you feel comfortable with.
I went to my church's candlelight service, which was nice. We wrote on a bit of paper things we wanted to get rid of in the new year (as far as attitude, etc) and then place it in the candle bowl to burn.
I usually stay in on New Year's eve however this year my friend's band was playing about an hour away. Normally if I would go out, I would just drive home. But I felt like treating myself a little - so after Church service, we went to a hotel , near where the band was playing. I got a swim in, and then we went to hear the band. It was nice because they let me come up to play a few songs with them.
I left it up to momma if she wanted to come with me , given that she has been through such a rough time. She decided yes. I was prepared to drive her back to the hotel should she feel tired.
Had a lot of fun, and we went back to the hotel and weren't able to sleep. So momma and stayed up, laughed about not being able to sleep, and drank some of the wine coolers I brought with.
New Year's day we drove back home, and even that was totally beautiful since the frost had frozen to the trees, tried a new restaurant which was probably the most challenging thing for me as it was fairly crowded, but momma wanted to stay and eat ... so, we stayed and ate. Good place.
And most of yesterday even though she hadn't slept much momma was just so happy and energetically buzzing around. I think the little mini adventure was good for her mental mood. :-) Her appetite is great too, it makes me happy.

It does feel good to get out. My mother has Covid right now though but most cases aren’t too bad anymore thankfully.
That’s so neat what your church does at the candle light service.
Aww that’s wonderful to hear the good time your mother had with you!
In the photo are you holding a giant drumstick?

Glad to see that you and your Mom enjoyed your time out !
At times, one does needs such forms of enjoyment especially when one has been through different rough and tough times.
Were the roads slippery or freezing when you drove back?
Have a nice time ahead !
