The most annoying thing ever!

A long time ago (probably some time around 1988) I went to a performance given by a musician and modern-day bard, Robin Williamson. I absolutely loved his work and immediately bought three cassettes, one of which turned out to be my all-time favourite, ‘Five Humourous Tales of Scotland and Ireland’.
I listened to this literally to death. I would put it on at bed time and fall asleep listening to it. Eventually the tape started to wear out and I looked everywhere for a replacement but none could be found. The record company did not sell this album any more, and it was never re-released. I went to see Robin in concert several more times but this recording was never available.
Thankfully a friend came to my rescue before the tape got beyond use; he managed to record it for me and transfer it to a CD. That was about 20 years ago. Since then I have introduced the family and many friends to Robin and we have all become avid fans. We have seen him perform several times and have various other recordings of his performances. But this one was still a favourite, and we often listened to it in the car.
That is until a few months ago, when I opened the CD case and… it was empty!!
Now if there’s one thing that really annoys me, it’s finding that the correct record, tape or CD is not in its correct case. (My partner is sometimes guilty of this, especially when driving, he selects a CD to listen to and puts it in the player then replaces the previous CD in the same case instead of looking for the appropriate one.)
Add to this that the CD in question is my all-time favourite recording ever and it is literally irreplaceable! I was not a happy bunny.
My partner realised that I was quite cross. He painstakingly took all the CDs from both our cars and all the CDs off the shelves at home – several hundred of them – and went through every single one trying to find the missing recording. It wasn’t there!
I can’t think where it is, the only thing I can think of is that it was left loose in the car (which is where the case was) and it somehow fell out when a door was opened or something…
Have you lost something you really treasured, and did you find it again?

I lost a ring and three earrings over the years, never to be found again.

I sure hope that you find it. My husband lost his wedding band and it was never found.

I have lost things I never wanted to lose. However, this still does not mean that CD is not around somewhere. I hope you find it. I suggest looking carefully all over the car. Beneath the seats, under the carpeting, and between the seats I mean you never know. Best of luck,
