Well, here I am after months away from myLot. Never expected that to happen but will explain in future discussions. Hubs and I finally got our new car after waiting for it for six months and decided to drive it to Florida to pack in some miles. It was worth the wait. We have been here for one month and one day. Our condo association is in the midst of making a huge mess. Days after we arrived, the new sea wall was completed. The back lawn has a new irrigation system, but waiting for sod to be put in. Everyone is getting a new lanai, and thankfully ours will be put in once we return to Connecticut. The noise is such a nuisance! Also getting a new roof, new elevators, new driveway, etc. Since our return, we decided to get all new hurricane windows and doors. We met with so many contractors, but finally decided on one company. Signed the contract Thursday and just waiting for the permits. More noise and a mess to come! On a more pleasant note, friends and family are here. We’ve been busy visiting each other, going out to dinner, entertaining, and just hanging out. I had a mani/pedi at my usual place, but they are under new ownership and are blah! Tried a new hairdresser and love him! Also, I used my fairy hair person and had 50 acetate strands put in. Hubs and I will be flying back to Connecticut next Sunday for about 9 days to see our family and to celebrate our younger son’s birthday. He’s been taking care of our house and feeding our wild birds. Wishing my friends a very happy new year! My only goal is to spend more time on myLot!

A pleasant sight in the new year. Glad to have you back . As climate change marches on it is best to make your preparations for adverse weather conditions. Installing new hurricane windows and doors is a very good idea.

Thanks so much! It’s so good to be back. The good thing about the windows is that we won’t have to use those heavy, room darkening storm shutters anymore. They are category 5 windows, so we will rest easy when we are away.

@DianneN Changes sure can be inconvenient . But I'm all for it if the end result means something good. Yah, I just don't like the bad, unexpected changes.

Thanks! Lol! It's so good being back here. I appreciated all your messages. Changes can be good or bad. I thought I was done with changes when we took off for Florida, but never. The day after we return home next week, we have an appointment to have window treatments installed in our new old family room. See what I mean?

Thanks so much and Happy New Year to you, too! Love our new car. Everything had to be ordered separately rather than package A, B, or C as it used to be back in the day. It was built from scratch and of course the supply chain and chips took forever!!!

I have missed you, Dianne! I remember once that I went for my holidays to St. Maarten and they were fixing up some things at the resort where I was with a friend. There were other parts of the resort that had less noise, but the people there thought that, as we were "spiks" they could place us in the worst part with the worst noise. My friend was going to accept it but I was not going to pay a lot to get deaf. So I went to talk with the manager and he changed us and gave me a voucher to a restaurant for our trouble. I accept the noise when I get the workers. I decide if I want that. But that was not what we had bargained. BTW, the restaurant was an Italian one and was delicious!

Thanks and I have missed you, too, Marguicha! I’m so glad you spoke up and that the manager changed you to a better room. The voucher was a very nice surprise! So happy you enjoyed your Italian meal, too. I’m sure you asked to be changed in a very nice way

WOW, that's some excitement .... of course not all good but just think how it will be once all the construction is done, it sounds like you'll have a much nicer accommodation in the end. Too bad that isn't real gold, wouldn't that be something.

You are right, but I left behind a construction site in Connecticut and was hoping for a relaxing vacation in Florida. But, as you said, it will be worth it in the end. True!

@DianneN It was from a multicolor pack. I ordered enough tinsel for like the next 5 years and have it in single color packs too. The girl who does it will have her work cut out for her next time if she wants to do multicolor again!

Hi, Nela!!!!!! Thank you! It's so good to be back here. I was mostly busy with landscaping, home decorating, and my family. Lots of discussions coming up. Thanks so much! I had fairy hair done last July with my son's girlfriend and her mother, but the hairdresser who did it didn't know how to tie knots that stayed in. Only had a few pieces left . Now I'm so happy!!!!

How is your osprey? (Orville was it?) Have a safe trip back to Connecticut and Happy Birthday to your son. Happy New Year to you as well May it be happy, healthy, safe and prosperous!

A millions thanks! Also, thank you for all your sweet and caring messages while I've been away from myLot. We have a new management system and they are really on the ball. Our place needs all the work and the assessments are going to cause a lot of people to leave, unfortunately. Our HOA went up this month, yet again. Orville was here to greet us the day we arrived. I was so happy!!!! He's driving me crazy flying by with his fish and chirping relentlessly, and I have had to ignore him at times. Every time I open the window, things blow off my desk. He still remembers me and comes to me when I call him. The workers here must think I'm a crazy lady. Those that live here already know I am

@LindaOHio You're right! Actually, someone made an offer on our place last week, but no, we intend to stay. You can't find anything around here on the water that's reasonable. We know of a place where the assessment is 1 1/2 million per person. If we had to pay that, we'd sell. Orville is brilliant!
