Portulaca is an ideal ground cover. It is a quick fix for any garden to look colourful specially if one is getting ready for any event in one's garden with limited time.
Portulaca comes in many colours. One can choose to have independent colours or all colours grown in one patch
The only snag is they do not last long and so one needs to keep planting them. They can be propagated both from seeds and cuttings. Cuttings is an easy approach.
This patch in the photo is from my garden.

You have to keep planting them. But they yield quickly

May be some garden paths will stop Luna from trampling - just saying Preti only walked on garden paths and never entered garden beds.
