West Dale church - a place of peace

Today we drove through the location of West Dale. There is an Anglican church, a churchyard cemetery, a hall and not much else. However, there are recent graves in the churchyard ranging from the late 1890s to 2020. The fenced churchyard has a number of native trees and, apart from the road running past, is surrounded by farmland.
The sign in the church porch says the church was built almost single-handedly by a Mr Woodruff, lay-assistant to the rector of the Shire of Beverley. The church was consecrated in 1989 and restored in 1975 and again in 1999. The restoration has been beautifully done with the stones buried in the mortar. There is no doubt a word to explain this type of finish but I don’t know it.
There is a memorial wall with plaques of deceased people. Some commemorate those whose ashes are spread nearby.
I couldn’t help thinking what a lovely peaceful place it was.

@JudyEv Our house has marble chips on the roof and exterior walls and that has saved us from painting

@JudyEv We don't have a church in my village, but I sincerely hope that we will build one soon. We had a small wooden church, but during the war due to the attack of the Turks, it was moved to a neighboring village on the hill, in order to preserve it, and it has been there ever since.

It is lovely and it's unbelievable that it was built single-handedly a a person. He did a marvelous job.

Very quaint and the church has been beautifully restored. I always notice some of the older gravestones when I'm visiting my parent's cemetery. Some go back 100's of years and the headstones are very distinct back then.
