I made more crackers

I wrote the other day about trying to make crackers. I used the wrong type of flour so although they were edible and tasty, they weren’t really ‘crackers’. I made more today and used the correct flour. I halved all the ingredients but forgot to halve the sugar content so they taste a tiny bit sweeter than they should. They are okay but they will be best if eaten with something like cheese, olives or pate. I’m sure we’ll make good use of them. Another thing that bugs me about these: I really like the sesame- and poppyseeds on them but most fall off and make a terrible mess. Maybe next time I’ll leave them off. Vince bought Greek yoghurt yesterday and is going to make some naan. I keep reminding him but it hasn’t happened yet. Hopefully soon.

Wow that's very nice, you see it's good to try than not to and I believe that next time you will get it right because practice makes perfect

@thislittlepennyearns Was it difficult? I know with making your own mayonnaise you have to add the oil very slowly or it separates.

@JudyEv That sounds like it would be yummier. I made homemade ranch dressing last night.

Don't you have to brush an egg white solution on them before you sprinkle the seeds?

The recipe just said a small amount of water. I'll try rolling them in next time. That might help.

Brush the dough with a bit of water, sprinkle the seed over the dough and then roll gently with a rolling pin to push the seeds into the dough. This keeps them from falling off after baking.

Thanks for that. I sort of did that but obviously didn't roll quite hard enough. I might have one more try before I give up on them.

You and Vince both sound very industrious in the kitchen.

It only happens from time to time! Although Vince makes most of the meals. So far, anything about the naan bread has just been talk. I'll need to remind him again about it.

They look very scrummy, as Mary Berry would say. Do you know who she is?

May be if you sprinkle the sesame or poppy seeds when they are still in the oven they could stick - just wondering

Sometimes suggested rolling the seeds into the pastry a bit more so I'll try that.

Well, at least they're tasty but if they're sweet why not put jelly or just plain butter on them?

Yes, I can do that. I'm sure they'll get eaten over the next few days.

I'm not going to remind Vince about the naan any more. I'll check the expiry date on the yoghurt and remind him again before it expires. Then perhaps he'll do it.

They look pretty good, sesame seeds are so good, maybe there is a way to fix them.

They look nice. I know what you mean about using the wrong flour because I am always doing this too. I often use self raising when I should be using plain or the other way round.

That's what I did. I'll be careful now for ages but no doubt one day in the future I'll make the same mistake.

They are best if you put cheese or pate on them.
