Weight loss

I know there is a lot of talk here about losing weight or in some cases gaining weight if too thin. I believe that people have to find their own journeys of how to manage losing weight to keep it off and not gain back what you worked hard to lose. I have been on my journey now for about 4 or 5 years and have managed to keep it off because I finally did it for myself. So all of you out there wanting to lose weight it takes time till the pounds or kilos come off and it shows so be patient with yourselves and if there are other areas one wants to work on it may take time to get to where you want to be. I have a hard time with that one because I am no longer younger and starting from scratch or close to it is hard for me.

@AnneW21 You are right because so many say they will start and then put it off until another day.

Been there, done that. I'm on my 14th month of my journey of losing the kilos. I lost 15kilos, need more to lose but I am patient. I'm not young either and I want to see my kids grow up. I am on this journey for my health and myself

@rakski That is great and good luck with the other and you are right patience is part of it. When you do it for yourself then that is very good.

Loosing or gaining weight can be a tedious job. Once you reach there, you have to put little conscious effort to maintain it there.Just be a little careful with your diet, exercise and lifestyle and things go well

@arunima25 I am sorry that you are a diabetic and if you do not maintain your weight can lead to more health complications.

@Hannihar I can relate to that. I am diabetic and I have to maintain a healthy weight. Else it might lead to more health complications. I am very careful about that.

I want to shed some weight so that I can move lighter. I don't imagine being skinny, just leaner, balance and healthier.

The only way I have ever lost weight and kept it off was simply by counting calories. A person has to be committed to actually do it, it's a mindset more than anything.

@MarieCoyle It is not easy to lose weight and then keeping it off. I found my system and hope others find theirs. Everyone has to find their own journey. One way may work for some or one but not all. That is why I do not suggest ways to lose but share what worked for me.

@Hannihar I agree with this completely. What works for me may not work for someone else, and visa versa. We are all different.

It is very hard not to get discouraged sometimes. About five years ago I lost 30 pounds. Two years later my doctor put me on a new medication that prompted me to gain 50 pounds. FINALLY, I convinced her to take me off of it, but of those 50, I've only managed to get 16 of those off again.

@RebeccasFarm ok. I guess you reached your goal pretty much and have a little ways to go. Did you find a way to take the last 5 pounds off?

I limit my portions to keep the unwanted weight off. Keeping the weight is easier than trying to lose weight.

I need to lose weight. My thoughts about weight and health have shifted a bit since last Fall. My husband suddenly fell ill to what we are not entirely sure about. The illness has left him very thin. He still does not eat as much as the average person at most meals. Both of us continue to wonder about this reality and how long this illness will keep going. Yes he is going to doctors.

@sallypup I am sorry he is ill and they do not know what is causing it and I guess that will give one an incentive to lose weight if they need to.

@JudyEv Thank you so much Judy and I appreciate that. No, it is not easy to keep it off and since I know I do not want to be that fat person again I have to work hard to keep it up and now I can look at food and not want it so on our fast days it is easier for me to fast.

@JudyEv it takes time and determination and saying no to people if you do not want to gain the weight back. I had to say no to someone and also if get stuff I do not eat anymore I have to give it away.

Some people lose the patience and want the results very quickly. It takes time to see results and the same efforts should be there in our weight loss journey .

After three years of being in a pandemic situation, I am trying my best to lose weight. At some point, I did lessen my food intake and seeing the good outcome lately. In addition, I still do my walking exercise daily.

@jstory07 Thank you Judy and I do exercise and walk when I can. In winter I exercise more inside and not as much outside as when the weather is nice. I never know when it will rain in winter and have been out in it and do not much like being out in the rain.
