Taking the salute

I’ve been to bed but couldn’t sleep so I got up again and went on sorting photos. And I came across this beauty. It’s our two boys ‘saluting’. They’re at the war memorial in Narrogin, our old home town in Western Australia. We had some wedding photos taken in this park too. There is 2 ½ years between them as the oldest is probably 4 ½ and the youngest 2. Aren’t they just the cutest? So serious too.

Some of the photos are turning very red so I scanned this in black and white and touched it up in Lightroom. I might need to do that with more of them.

It's great, isn't it? The oldest was very much 'into' the military. I'm sure war comics helped him learn to read.

@RubyHawk For me, I just sit the photo on the bed of the printer and put the lid down on it so there is no way it can curl up. It doesn't get hot.

@JudyEv I would be afraid to scan my pictures. They might curl up and spoil the picture. I did that on my old printer but my new one is different.

They were good little kids. The oldest loved anything to do with war and the military. He is peace-loving now, I'm pleased to say.

I scanned all my real photos years ago but kept the originals. Some of them needed "help" after I scanned them into my laptop. And yes, your boys look cute in this photo.

@aninditasen They were probably 4 1/2 and 2. Our seasons do differ but not as much as in some countries so I'm not sure about winter making people chubby.

Good point. I suppose to a degree the military is still the domain of males rather than females although that is gradually changing. And this was back in the mid 70s.
