This seems to be weird. An Indian news featured an Indian official pumped 2 million litres of water out of a body of water for several days to get back his cellphone. Rajesh Vishwas, 32, an official from India, who happened to take selfie beside the lake while relaxing, accidentally fell his brand new mobile phone, Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra into the lake. It took three days to retrieve the phone but the phone is no longer functional. Important data stored in the phone seem beyond recovery. https://gagadget.com/en/samsung-galaxy-s23-ultra/251844-an-indian-official-pumped-2-million-litres-of-water-out-of-a-body-of-water-for-3-days-to-retriev/ Image: Google

Some fool actually emptied a body of water to retrieve a phone everyone knew would not work again? And people had the audacity to carry out his absurd request? That’s insane.

@Nakitakona He didn't realize the phone would be completely unusuable? A man on the street should have known that. No one would even be able to steal data.

This is deplorable. How could have the official acted in this way. Yes he could have important data on his phone but still things could have been rectified instead of getting so much water pumped out. Plus this selfie culture seems to be doing more bad than good !

You're right. He relies from his wealth. India is suffering from lack of water. Now millions of liters of water were siphoned from the lake. That would be an abuse of authority and of humanity.

Wow, that is too much emptying a lake just for a phone. What a waste of water and when he got it the phone was unusable anymore.

Maybe because he was an "official" and not an ordinary citizen perhaps is the reason they went to great lengths to find the phone. Still it is unbelievably crazy to do this.

@Nakitakona He should be suspended and should pay the money it cost to retrieve his phone.

@CarolDM I think that should be the case compensating what he had done especially the wastage of 2 million litres of lake water.

Wow that is absolutely absurd. Of course it wouldn’t work after all that! I can’t even imagine how much it cost for him to have all that water pumped out like that.

It doesen't make sense . A phone submerged in water for that length of time would be damaged beyond repair.

Wow, hats off to this lunacy. He could have paid a diver to find the phone for him, had it been so precious to him, and saved both time, effort and money.

The officials has been suspended from his job and fined for the damage he has done to the crops. He has been penny wise and found foolish.
