Presumably it is the wreckage of the submersible Titan that has been missing for 5 days. Debris likely indicates that there was an implosion which would mean that the 5 passengers would have died instantly. As horrific as that sounds, it is a much more merciful death than sitting in silence for days, going mad, and slowly suffocating.
The US Coast Guard is holding a briefing at 3 pm this afternoon. A Rear Admiral is slated to speak which certainly seems to indicate that they have an important announcement to make.

I've been following these developments for the last couple of days. It's so sad for the 5 onboard and to their families and friends.

I don't wish to sound like a heartless beeish but I have to say this. The 5 people aboard that submersible were millionaires. What purpose could they have in visiting and disturbing a century old graveyard other than that they could afford it? If they were interested in the history of the Titanic there are a myriad of museums and archives across the Canadian Atlantic, Britain and the New England States that could meet those needs.
The irony that they meet the same fate in the same site as the more than 1500 people before them should be a warning to all who have no respect for the preservation of this location. Let the Titanic and her 1500 perished souls rest where they lay in undisturbed respect.

@starmaiden Have to agree. I find it unacceptable that the rich can tramp all over the place just because they can. Don’t understand the ghoulish voyeurism of all this Titanic stuff.

I sure hope that's the case.
