An evening by the lake

I spent part of my evening yesterday in the park down by the lake. It's not far from my building. About a 10 minute walk. I go there for ice cream and just walk around the lake. I ran into this gaggle of Canada geese chilling by the water. For those who have trouble identifying Canada geese, their necks are black and they have a distinctive white patch of feathers just below the beak.
They are native to Canada but do spend their winters in the southern parts of the continent.

@Starmaiden Here, we don't have extreme winters - so maybe they don't feel the need to fly off. But they do still hang out in the summer even with our extreme heat - or maybe they're not bothered by that. Very possible pollutants affect them too.

They don't migrate much any more do they. Too many pollutants in the atmosphere I'm assuming.

@starmaiden I wonder what they’re all looking at.

They are facing in the direction of the sunset. It might be an evening ritual for them to watch the sunset.
