Where Did The Money Go?!?!?

It's 12 am and I am taking care of some accounting of my finances. And things aren't looking too good. It appears I don't have as much in the coffers as I thought. I need to keep strict account of my finances. Have you recently overspent and realized you don't have much money left?!?!

It's hard to realize that what used to pay the bills, just doesn't anymore. We are as frugal as we know how to be. We've never been fast food people, so that's no big deal. I cook and it tastes good, and I do try very hard not to waste any food. I turn off the lights, don't make unnecessary trips in the car, mend clothing, buy used...and it's still not enough. It's very hard for so many right now.

Just buying regular items puts you over budget. Let alone over spending.

@db20747 The way it is now, we are all overspending on regular items that we actually need.

I have to keep a close eye on my balance. There is a pre-authorized payment that comes out on the first of every month, usually after I pay my other bills, and the bank takes well over $30.00 a month for service charges. So when money I know I never 'spent' goes missing it's usually because of bank fees.

Hope you can find a bank with less fees. That's quite a bit of change at the end of the year

@db20747 I use my debit card alot. The retail outlet takes it's fees and the bank matches it so I'm paying for 2 services. I had all of my bank fees waived for a year once. Maybe I can get that credit again.

I haven't just because I always keep a careful eye on what I'm spending out of concern I won't have enough to cover the bills. Perhaps, you didn't buy anything extra as opposed to not realizing what you normally buy just went up in cost. You might have to cut out things you would be able to afford if it weren't for the crazy inflation. I think what you experienced is happening to a lot of people.

Yes this is true. Better stick to what I need, not what I want!

No I know how much I have at all times. Plus I can cash out a bond or sell some stocks if I have to.

@db20747 Not sure anymore. My stocks were bought as part of my retirement. All I do now is cash out the dividends every three month and that pays our house and car insurance for a year at a time.

This is good financial management. Tell me, what's a good stock to buy?

I have not overspent, but food is more and more expensive and it is impossible to give up eating.

@db20747 - I cook everything at home, ready made food is ridiculously expensive.

Yes it is. Tried to fast for a couple days and wound up buying a two piece chicken meal with two biscuits!

It's not overspending, I thought that's what I was doing too. It's the cost of EVERYTHING! Everything went up. Even cat food. And a small fry @ McDonald's is almost 3 bucks? What the who? Took me many, many tries going over my budget to realize it wasn't me. It's the prices.

Yes, inflation is up 70 percent! Not 8 like they claim

I've been over spending this week but it's to buy for more yarns and materials for crochet projects so I could sell more at the mall.

That's good spending! Mine is bad spending. On things I don't necessarily need.

I see something I get it! Have to pay attention. My surplus is turning into a deficit.

Money just doesn’t seem to go as far these days. I used to have tons of money leftover after paying bills, now it seems that amount is slowly shrinking.

I tread very carefully but the money still goes. I blame it on inflation.

I exactly have the same question I was very bad at managing finances, may be few months back, but now I am learning to keep a strict check and not to over spend.
