Update on Doctor

So, you might remember my doctor called my medication last Tuesday to the wrong pharmacy, despite having the right one in the computer system, and despite me telling him, and him writing it down. When I called that day to get him to fix it, nothing. When I called Wednesday, he did not fix it. When I physically went there Thursday, I discovered they were closed until Monday (today). However, Friday, on a hunch, I called again, and the ladies in the office were there (the doctor was not). I was told they’d contact the doctor, and let him know. Guess what? Nothing!
So this morning, I drove there, and told the receptionist what had happened, and said if he had just decided not to call it in, I needed to know why, because it had been a week since I had had that medication. Long story short, it was pure incompetence. They weren’t doing this on purpose like I had almost convinced myself (because I couldn’t fathom anyone being this bad at doing their job in the medical field when it involved a prescription). They were just that bad. He immediately called in my prescription, and and I picked it up an hour later.
No, they couldn’t transfer it to a different pharmacy (that’s not legal with this medication), and the pharmacy it was called into didn’t have it in stock, and since their supplier was out, they couldn’t order more. If I wanted to change doctors, it would be a three month wait, and in that time, I would not have access to that medication. So, I’m going to try to stick this out with this specialist.
Thank you to the ones that prayed for me. Now, what did you do today? I’m ready to hear it.

I am so sorry you had another medication nightmare. It is so, so frustrating. Incompetent is right in your case! Good grief.
In the continuing saga of shortages of prescription medications. son had been waiting since Friday for one of his. Add it to the list of ones we have been having to chase down, I guess. The pharmacy here had been trying to get it for him for 3 days. They had no luck. They tried to get it from one of our other pharmacies here in town--no one has it and so they finally located and had it filled for him in a city 23 miles away. He wasn't well enough to drive alone that far, so yes, I put him in the car and off we went to pick it up. I am honestly getting to the point I hate it when he has to get refills on some of his meds or that they -prescribe a new one for one of us. Ugh, this is just hard.
I am really sorry you had to deal with all of that, Amber.

I know you're not, but it still isn't easy when people are ill and really need the medication and it's such a struggle to get it.

It appears right now there are a lot of shortages of prescription medications. Very, very frustrating.

Trust me, I know exactly how you feel. I got a random call from my doctor's office , a month after I'd just been there, asking if I needed to be seen.

I'm sorry that happened. I'm glad you finally got the medication you should have been taking for the last week.
We picked up six of my meds and one of Pretty's at the pharmacy this morning. Two of mine were medication changes ordered last Friday. There are another six meds that I was told are on backorder so I'm waiting until the pharmacy gets them in.
I just made some chicken and pasta with pesto. You're welcome to come have some with me. (Pretty won't eat it. There's lots left over.)

Don't look now, the incompetents are everywhere. Had this happen with a dermatological med. Doc phoned a non existent med into a pharmacy that I did not use. My pharmacy I use was able to figure it out. Mine was not an important med, but I know yours are. I am glad they got it straight, finally.

Ugh. I'm glad you finally got it, but you could have gotten it way sooner if they had their act together - which they did not! I can understand they didn't do it on purpose, but then, why are they not intentionally doing their job thoroughly .
I got a lot of errands done today - too long to write about it. Oh - well maybe I'll go write about one of 'em .

Bless your heart, there's no excuse for that! I bet they wouldn't delay their own medicine. I'm so sorry you're having to go through that. Are you able to be okay without it for a while?

I went a week without it, but got to pick it up today after he finally called it into the right place. It was a very tough week, and I can’t believe how unprofessional they were in handling the whole thing. Because you are right; they would have gotten it right the first time if it were them in that situation. My mind is somewhat blown by how careless they were.

I’m going to be all over him from now on, in the most respectful way I possibly can. The other medication he prescribed for me, he keeps getting the dosage wrong. He’s done it five times, and I didn’t always catch it before I picked it up from the pharmacy.

Oh my, what a mess. I hope you did okay without that medication. I am glad you have it now.
I am going to write a post about what I did today so I can't tell you here! I don't want to let the cat out of the bag.:0)

Oh my goodness. I have never had that happen to me before. That is awful and is there someone you could report it to?

I’m afraid if I report it, he’ll find out it was me, and release me from his practice. About 17 years ago, I actually did report a doctor, but that was after I severed ties with him. So it didn’t matter if he knew it was me. I’ll probably look into it.

That's bad. When I was trying to move my prescription to another Walmart, it was a headache trying to move it. Once a nurse put the wrong pharmacy down after I moved because I didn't know what the address for the Walmart. I found out later when I got on MyChart so I changed it right away.
