Doing the laundry quickly.

It's dry and sunny today, after two days of rain, so I've taken the opportunity to do three loads of laundry and I'm hoping it will dry. We don't have a tumble-dryer so I either have to rely on good weather or carefully manage the laundry and dry it on clothes airers in the house. I remember when I was going out to work and drying laundry was a real hit-and-miss affair. It seemed to me that I would be ten minutes from returning home and that's precisely when the weather would turn and it would rain. Have you ever had to play "dodge the weather" with laundry?

@karenanne Today I hung a load of washing up outside under a blue sky and as soon as the last shirt was hung up I began to take it all off again under a very unexpected deluge.

We have always had a dryer. My allergies are too bad to leave my laundry outside to dry.

Here I do not have to depend on the weather for doing laundry. I do it at the local laundry room here, which I have to clean and scrub before I use it. Then I use the dryer as there are no lines to hang clothes on here. Even if there were, the things would be stolen if you hung them outside. When I had clothes lines outside yes, I would naturally observe the weather for clothes drying.

I have lines in the laundry room. When the weather is nice and dry I hang my clothing, when it's humid (like today) I use the dryer.
