Shall we ice cream? (+ This week's high and lows.)

Please excuse the odd sentence construction. I am just excited to dig into my small cup of ice cream which might happen in a little while. I've been craving ice cream since last week but wouldn't get any because I fervently believe in the heavenly joy of delayed gratification. (My recent online purchases would prove otherwise.) The week started with a few unpleasant moments with humans and, since I've been feeling sensitive lately, I decided to host my own pity party for 4 days. It wasn't easy and I cried a lot. I am much better now and have processed much in my journals and with my therapist. In the four days that I wallowed in the deepest mud of self-pity, however, I got to work on a lot of chores and have dramatically reduced the pile of dirty clothes in the hamper. I have also managed to go on longer morning walks and discovered (to my chagrin) that the Subway branch from a block away won't open 'til November and that (to my delight) the Lawson convenience store beside it will open next week!!! I also got to talk with my Mom a lot on the phone for 2 consecutive days. No more guilty feelings of not having called her for like a month. My youngest daughter finally got to swim in the condo pool. She's so happy about it. Two days later, she found herself wading through ankle-deep flood on our way back home from school. It was a brand-new experience for her and she was both amused and annoyed by it. I am also happy to report that I have scored 2 bottles of peach-scented shampoo for the price of one bottle at the superstore. And, I finally got to cook beef mechado (beef stew) in the tiny kitchen of this tiny flat using this nice ceramic pot that I got on sale weeks ago at the nearest department store.
