I was in the store the other day when I heard a baby crying because of the pain of getting it's ears pierced. Is this a form of torcher to the child? I think a baby with it's ears pierced is just adorable. What is the appropriat age to have a childs ears pierced?

I didn't know peditiricians can do it. I thought you have to go to wal-mart or somewhere else to get it done. Intersting, I should check that out.

My pediatrician did not do it at her office. She did tell me it would be fine to get it done at Claire's though. To me, the pain is no different from shots. It was better to get it done and over with than have her a little nervous with anticipation when she gets older.

I got my first daughter done at 3 months old and my other daughter done at 15 months old so I think its ok to get them done. Some people wait until they are old enough to decide on they own if they want there ears pierced

I think they look cute with their ears pierced too, but, I think it is a choice that they should make for themselves. I don't know what the age is that they do it. You might want to check with the doctor.

No age. Why not let the child decide for herself if she wants pierced ears?

I had my daughters ears pierced when she was about 5 months at one of those places where they sell earrings...My older sister did not pierce my nieces (2 of them) ears because she thought that it was all up to them once they are old enough to make their own decisions if they want to pierce their ears or not...But to each their own and plus she's a special case.

I think its a good idea. It will hurt a little at any age so I think its better when theyre younger besides most likely theyre going to ask when theyre older so why not do it sooner.

I'm not sure what is the right age to pierce a baby's ears. But, I'm planning on getting my daughter's ears pierce at 6 months, only a month away. I got mine at an early age. I remember at one I was wearing earings, so I think it was before one when my ears were pierced. I don't think it's a torcher at all. I think getting piercing early on will help the ears heal faster without the baby trying to infect the ears by scratching it or something like that.

No, it isn't torture. I had my ears pierced when I was two months old and I got my nieces ears done when she was three. She wanted them and kept asking and I told her over and over that it was going to hurt and she said she wanted them. We went and had both ears done at the same time (don't do it any other way), she cried and grabbed at one of her ears and I snatched her up and showed her the mirror and it was over. After that she was strutting around the mall with her new pretty earrings and has been happy with them ever since.
So as far as the appropriate age...everyone is different and should just use their best judgement.

In our country it is custom to pierced baby ears as it believe to be good for baby health.
I have pierced both my children ears they cry at begining as it is painful but later on it is good for them.

I think it's wrong. Babies are beautiful enough - they dont need earrings!
Rather let them choose when they are ready...
