The weekend from...well, you know...

As I write this, it's 10 minutes until Monday starts. And I am ready to leave this weekend in the books. Thursday afternoon, my son's primary doctor, that we have the utmost faith in, said he was going to have to change his BP meds, as his numbers were just too high. He has blood pressure swings, goes from ridiculously high and then sometimes dives, but the doctor had another med he wanted to add. Long story, but something needed to be done, as what he was taking just wasn't working like it used to. We went to the pharmacy and got it filled, he was to take it that night before bed. No problems Friday morning, he was to take it again. at 10am, which he did. Oh, boy....woozy and nauseated and just plain white as a sheet. Not sure how, but I got him in my car and off we went. Called doctor on the way, he said to go to the ER, so we did...he spent the day in there on some IV meds trying to get it all at the proper level. About 11pm they decided to admit him, said that he needed to be monitored another day. OK...Saturday, same thing. Up and down like a yo-yo. Saturday night, a specialist showed up with the doctor and they decided to try something else as it was still up and down. Yay, it worked. But it was late, and they wouldn't let him go home again (he wasn't happy.) Today he seemed a lot better. They came and decided IF he didn't have an up-and-down episode for 24 hours, he could go home. So, I got him released about 8pm. He seems better. He just scared me. I called my daughter that lives close by, she came with my son-in-law for a bit. (She brought me a gigantic cup of Starbuck's!) That was our drama for the weekend. Didn't get much done, just back and forth and staying up at the hospital. The parking garage at the hospital spooks me out at night, but a guard walked me to the car. Yay! I am more than ready for some nice, calm, boring days. Bring 'em on!

Yes, it appears this med he is on now will work, at least for now, and not make him so ill. Thank you, Judy.

I am so sorry for your son and I am glad he is back home now. I remember that my brother always told me that he had a hard time deciding which medications to give to our Mom for the BP, because a wrong dosage (or a wrong medicine) can do more harm than good. I hope he will be fine with the new medication.

Not scared so much as cautious. That's the way it is, it's best to be proactive.

Ever since he was so sick back in December, and he coded in the ER, I am always a nervous wreck when he gets really sick. I guess that's normal for a mom, but still, a huge worry. Thank you so much, Snowy.

That must have been traumatic indeed for all concerned. That was nice of the guard to walk you to your car. I hear you when you say the car park spooks you out. Hope you have a boring week.

No matter what parking garage I use anywhere, it seems they are never lit very well at night. Yes, he said they would be glad to do that and I was very appreciative. Boring can start any time now, Judy...it's taking it's sweet time in arriving! Thanks.

Oddly enough, I have never had high BP, not even when I packed around the extra pounds, Mine has always had a tendency to be too low. But his has been on the high side for quite a while. We didn't have these surges from way high to way, way low until the last year, so it's been concerning. Thank you!
