Making soup

I wanted to bake some ribs for dinner, but started too late, so I'll cook them tomorrow. I have a pot of venison veggie soup simmering and it smells so good. Jim Bauer got me wanting biscuits and gravy for breakfast. I fried sausage and made milk gravy from the grease. That was really good, but the gluten free biscuits were a little gritty. I'll have to work on that, probably let the dough rest a while to absorb the moisture before baking. Fried an egg for Dale with his coffee, of course. I had apple juice with mine. Fighting headaches for several days...not time for Botox injections until next month. But found out the MRI on my hip showed ham string tendinitis. I keep calling it ham hock tendinitis, lol. An absolute beautiful day, in the low 80s for a few more days. Hopefully I can walk some outside. How's your day going?

I'm sorry you're having headaches. I pray they go away. I've had a taste for biscuits and gravy too! Wishing you and Dale a wonderful day.

My hubby ate left over meatloaf and made a sandwich. I don't remember what I ate! Oh now I remember, I had a toasted tuna sandwich. It was boutique day so no cooking!

It's good to hear your boutique is going so well. I know you're exhausted, though.

You always have good eats! I don't even know where I would get venison. Argh on the headaches - hope they go away soon. Ham hock . We are in the mid 70s this week . . . we're trying to get in those walks outdoors too. I got a lot of chores done this morning . . . just had lunch . . . things going smoothly on a crazy scheduled day - I will hopefully get to relax in another 3 hours.

@1creekgirl I get migraine-like headaches from MSG or too much sodium. I had wondered how well the Botox works on migraines. Glad you enjoyed the soup . . . we just might have soup tonight (though now venison ). Enjoy the weekend!

@much2say I've been on Botox injections for two years, I think and they worked so well at first. My doctor tried so many different meds before my insurance would pay for Botox, but those meds had horrible side effects and did nothing for the pain.

You're having a very busy Thursday! The Botox injections every three months usually help the migraines, but not sure why I have them so often. We enjoyed the soup, hope to enjoy the rest of it tomorrow.

@1creekgirl Venison soup sounds just about right for today here. I’m exhausted with all this house moving we’re doing, especially since there’s no heat yet in the new place.

What's the temp there and at your new place? Moving really can be draining.

I made homemade veggie beef soup with left over beef roast yesterday. It was really good. Sorry you are having headaches. Hope that they will stop.

Once it stopped raining it was a good day for bike ride. I had soup for lunch, but it was out of a can, my last effort at making lentil soup was less than successful!

A veggie soup is really easy. I fry venison burger (you can use hamburger), diced potatoes, carrots, corn, green beans, onion powder, pepper, bullion cubes, water, and ketchup.

The only lentil soup I make is a tomato basil lentil, but I never follow the recipe. I'm prone to add sausage and other stuff to it.

What can they do for hamstring tendinitis? I was concerned you might need a hip replacement. Of course, tendinitis is enough to deal with. You know, for awhile my Botox wasn’t working nearly as well as it had when I first started using it. Do you also take Magnesium?

@1creekgirl My neurologist recommended 250mg of Magnesium a day, and I think it might have helped. My back is feeling pretty good, thank you for asking.

@AmbiePam I will definitely ask my doctor when I go for Botox next month about magnesium.

Tendonitis usually goes away, it helped when I quit using my cane for my hurt foot. The cane and my curved spine started the overuse of the ham hock, I mean ham string. Did the magnesium help your migraines? I take a multivitamin, but not sure if or how much magnesium it has. I take a Nortriptline to supplement the Botox (that's the only one of those antidepressants that I can take without horrible side effects), but I don't know. How's your back feeling?

I love soup, too. Sometimes when I have some chicken in the freezer, I love chicken and rice soup. That's what everyone here fixes when someone is sick.

@JudyEv One time I had made chicken and rice soup for a sick friend and she said she really appreciated it, but she had several containers of it in the freezer from other friends. So guess what we had for dinner!

That sounds pretty good. I baked bbq pork ribs, broccoli casserole, and fried potatoes for dinner today. I was so disappointed, nothing tasted right. Dale enjoyed it, so it was just me. No idea why.

What caused the hamstring tendinitis? It is Friday afternoon here and it is scorching hot outside.

I'm not sure what caused it, but the doctor said to stop using my cane for my hurt foot and it got better after that. I also have scoliosis (curved spine) which didn't help. Is this your summer season there? We're having several days in the low 80s which is really warm for here in October.

Overall my day has been good, venison soup sounds good, haven't had any in a while. My aunt Reba (a favorite great aunt) used to cook what my uncle and cousin would hunt. She loved to bake it.

@jnrdutton A lot of people don't like venison, but how it's cut and cleaned is so important to get out that wild taste. My husband is a fanatic about it (he's out hunting right now) and I don't eat deer that anyone else cleans. I like to add just a little pork sausage to the deer burger to give it a good flavor. Dale grinds it up with beef fat for flavor and to add a little grease to it.

My aunt used to bake it, also. I mostly use the deer burger that my husband makes, but sometimes I make a venison stew with potatoes and carrots.

@1creekgirl making me hungrier than I already was, lol. I wouldn't even know where to get venison where I am. Years ago a family friend gave my wife and I some, but I guess she had connections.

My doctor said physical therapy might could help, but I told his nurse that it's feeling much better, so I'll think about PT if it gets bad again.
