My computer crashed and the rest of the day

Today my stepson helped run the concession at a cheerleading competition held at our school. The sales earned at the concession goes towards the class trip for the high school seniors (which my stepson is).
My niece was in the competition. I walked up and forgot my money and wound up missing her performance. I was so bummed since she had asked her mother if I would go to it.
After helping at the school for 11 hours my stepson came home with a full sheet pizza that was leftover and a huge box of 150 small bags of Doritos that they accidentally bought way more than they needed.
He told my son to go ahead and have two then took the box to his room. I told him to bring it out so everyone could share it. He’s a bit greedy at times but I did talk him into bringing it out.
I was making tacos when he came home with the Doritos so they wound up eating walking tacos for dinner. The pizza he brought home was absolutely flavorless. It’s a new restaurant that opened in town and I will never buy a pizza from there after trying the one that business donated.
A week ago or so I downloaded my stepsons senior photos onto my computer. It hasn’t worked right since and I think it crashed tonight. Luckily when I saw it was slow after downloading the photos I backed my computer up on my external hard drive so I won’t have lost anything if it’s not repairable.
Photo is unrelated to the post. I saw this display at a thrift store I went to yesterday and thought it was neat.

@AmbiePam my stepson told me one of the sheet pizzas that was donated was so bad that they just threw the entire thing out the cheese was burned to the crisp and there were bubbles in the dough all over it. Yikes someone needs to teach them how to make pizza!
I got to see a video of it later but I didn’t get to be there for it and it makes me so sad since she wanted me to be there.

@shaggin that pizza sounds horrible. I could make better pizza when I used to make it with my peer
we go to a local take-out-only place for pizza that has been in business for over 50 years and my family has gone there nearly 45-50 years!

Sorry to hear about your computer I hope it is fixable and not too expensive. Theat was nice your stepson got to bring those goodies home with him.

@RebeccasFarm it was kind of comical in a way just how greedy he was being it was just like absurd to think two for my son and 148 for him

@shaggin 148 isn't much my nephew could easily eat 148! he is always hungry and yet so skinny his bones show.

@LovesEverybody 148 mini bags of chips. I certainly could eat it too but all at once Ick better to snack on them a little over time. I was the same as your nephew just over 100 pounds starving no matter how much I ate and never gained weight.

@LadyDuck i am crossing my fingers it wasn’t a virus or a worm. It could have effected my external hard drive then as well. I ran into the computer guy but he was humming about when he could work on it so I just told him to message me when he is free to work on it. I’m not in a rush but if I do need a new one Black Friday is coming up.

It is good for kids to work towards something fun like a class trip. Sounds like the pizza needed to be jazzed up somehow. I do hope your computer is okay.

@GardenGerty it was very poorly made. The crust was all ripped on the bottom instead of laying flat like it had a ton of creases when it was baked. There were a lot of bubbles on top and the cheese was over cooked. The bottom was burnt and there was no flavor to it at all and was very hard to chew. It couldn’t have been any worse .

Uh oh, Have you tried just running an anti malware program on it..or antivirus or something? It may not cure it, but I think I would try that first

@snowy22315 there’s webroot on it and I was thinking last night I should see if that covers malware but I couldn’t get it to load up past a blank screen so there’s no running anything on it now. This is past what I am capable of.

@snowy22315 I looked up ways to get it to start up the hard drive tower lights up but the monitor doesn’t. I pushed all different buttons it told me to online and nothing helps.

@shaggin I use my smartphone if I am away from my old desktop. A friend of mine repaired it. For me, once it is repaired, it will surely break down anytime soon. So, I need to earn money for this kind of investment since it is my source of income.

@wiLLmaH the huge box of Doritos for free sure was a happy unexpected twist for my stepson.
I’m glad you think the thrift store display is neat. They have a very Victorian look there and now are decorated in most of the store for Christmas. The place is gorgeous!

@shaggin bIt must be a delightful place, especially with the Christmas decorations adding to its charm.
Box of Doritos for free! That's one of my favourite chips.. but lately we stopped buying since the taste changed. When we checked it, it is made in China and not in US. Oh yeah, even the the packaging was changed. it is not easy to open anymore.

@RasmaSandra I would rather this one be fixed then spend money on a new one but as long as my photos are backed up on my external hard drive and they were ruined by a worm or virus then I will be okay with it.
Nothing I added to that pizza helped it was just awful.

@CarolDM I think I downloaded a virus when I downloaded my sons senior photos. Then when it got slow I backed it up on an external hard drive of mine so I could delete photos and things I didn’t need so it would run better. I deleted over 1000 photos and it just kept getting slower and slower and wouldn’t shut down or start up now. So if it’s a
Virus it would have transferred to the hard drive too. I’m just praying it’s not and someone can salvage the computer for me. They are so expansive to get a new one and I do not want to lose all my photos if that hard drive has a virus. I messaged a guy who repairs computers in town but he read the message and didn’t respond so I have to wait a few days. If he doesn’t respond I’ll have to go out of the area.

@CarolDM these photos are backed up on an external hard drive but if my computer is infected with a virus that hard drive likely will be too.
My first husbands aunt makes towels like this to give away at Christmas so I have a lot. What I liked mostly was what they made to hold the towels on. Using an old tin.

@shaggin Are you sure about the hard drive being infected? If your computer is clean and you create the backup on an external drive, disconnect the drive, then get infected, the external drive is not affected. Depends on when your computer got infected.
I too loved the little hangers for the towels they used.

I hope your computer is okay.
I have read about walking tacos and have been intrigued by them
my senior didn't get a class trip we had a religious retreat. it was fun because if the convent had taken me I would have been a nun now

@shaggin my cat is doing great! He is lying on our bed sound asleep. I have our fleece blanket on and I think he loves that blanket!
He is satisfied as when I woke up a few hours ago we had snacks so his belly is full and he can sleep soundly!
