A Packet of Warning: Unbelievable?!?

We are all familiar with the fact that cigarette packets have warnings on them to encourage people to quit puffing the cigarettes. You may not believe that this strategy was adapted from a recent study by Jack Hughes, a psychology PhD student at Durham. His concern is saving people from eating red and processed meat, which is claimed to be unhealthy food. He and the other researchers add packet warnings on foods prepared for their subjects. For example, "WARNING: Eating meat contributes to climate change," as the warning goes to saving also the mother Earth. They concluded that it reduced meat consumption between 7% and 10% with their 1,001 meat eaters.
Any thoughts about it?

Well most people still smoke despite the warning and knowledge of the dangers.
Meat eaters will still eat despite the warning

@jefferson126 Sure an impact to kid will do.
It's funny to realize when one is an adult and able to read for themselves and understand, it's when they ignore the warning

I think this method can help reduce part of meat consumption,But overall, hard to make ppl give up meat.Anyway, their efforts will achieve some effects.

Although there are health risks associated with eating too much red meat and the like. However, this is not true because they are a good source of protein for us as well. Moderate eating is the key to a more balanced and healthy diet.
Although the warning that eating meat contributes to climate change appears to be a strange link to being unhealthy.

You said it right. I only stopped eating meat before because Tajikistan is a Muslim country. I need to embrace myself not to be tempted to eat pork meat. Even if beef, chicken, or fish are allowed there, I cannot push myself to have some because they are not tasty.

Seeing the "warning" would annoy me but it wouldn't stop me from eating red and processed meats.

@DaddyEvil It seems that scientists think so much without considering these things. If they can just use the budget for research into other things than this.

@Shavkat It is sad to see how we live knowing the harm we do to us and those around us

@allknowing I agree. Closing them is not an option because it will have a big impact to the economy.

If it was a health problem, they should start with what the cattle are fed and injected with and move from there. The climate change story? What about the petroleum used in the packaging, inks, paper and adhesive, that possibly will do more Earth harm than the cattle themselves.
They should rather spend some time improving the quality and to use everything from nose to tail. Cut the waste and make it more healthy then there might be fewer heads of cattle and whatever else needed for the same result. And start real veal, baby chicken, milk lambs and sucking pigs again. I've not seen those things in shops for years.

Maybe some people take notice of these warnings, but most people buy what they want anyway. I have not seen this warning on anything I buy, but maybe it is a new idea . In the UK we have labels on packaging from food standards agencies saying where product ingredients have come from , animal welfare ,food additives and other logos saying if the packaging can be recycled or not.

I don't think the warning will be effective. People won't eat less meat due to such a warning.
