Hubby had a bowl of Life cereal and milk for breakfast. Fine. Two o'clock came. I asked him if he didn't want some lunch? Answer: "Oh, a couple of pieces of cheese since I had cereal." He wasn't hungry. I went to the kitchen and grabbed a plate. I spread some hummus on a slice of sprouted wheat bread then sliced two pieces of sharp cheddar. I gave this to hubby. Thank God he ate the entire thing. He is not a fat person. Not one bit. He is eating some Christmas sugar cookies but still..... two pieces of cheese for lunch?

It is odd for anyone of us just to eat two pieces of cheese for lunch.

@Deepizzaguy I am with you on that opinion. That's why I brought more than cheese to my hubby.

@Deepizzaguy It just seemed the thing to do though it was my husband's right to ignore the extra food.

He sounds a bit like friend. He eats like a child and 2 hours later he is hungry

@sallypup Did you ever find out what was going on with that? Friend won't take all the tests he is supposed to.

@snowy22315 I worry that my hubby is heading toward last year's illness. I remember too well trying to get him to eat more than 500 calories every day.

@snowy22315 We never did totally figure it out. Doc acts like hubby is okay and stable. Hubby did have his esophagus stretched and that seemed to stop the awful hiccoughs

So how does that fit with the title of your post? It doesn’t seem like you were being mean at all!

@sallypup No, don’t feel that way. You do it because you care about his health and well-being.

@noni1959 Good question. He doesn't like to eat meat now. Especially fatty meat.

@sallypup My girlfriend's husband hasn't been eating meat lately and he used to love it. He said it's tasteless. His doctor said his taste buds changed when she asked about it. He had lost 40 lbs. Now, she makes other types of protein foods and tries to get him to drink Ensure and Nepro. I hope you find something that will help him eat.

Gosh I’d eat the whole brick and still be hungry two pieces surely wasn’t enough. Poor thing that his appetite is still so poor. I’m so glad you are always on top of things with him!

I used to work a split when I was working at the telephone company. This meant I had a long three or four hours in between a four-hour stretch. I'd go about two blocks downtown to the health food store and have my lunch there. I would get a thickly sliced piece of their special 8-grain wheat bread with butter. Warmed it was so rich and delicious it filled me up. I bet that bread filled him up too.

Hopefully he will get a good apatite soon, 1 bowl of cereal and 2 pieces of cheese just doesn't sound like it's enough for a man.

What kind of cheese did he eat? Sometimes when I have eaten 2 slices of Gouda cheese, I was already full.

Sometimes you don't feel hungry when you are at home or not doing physical work. Besides, he asked for what he felt his body needs at that point. In my own opinion I think that's one of the ways to avoid unnecessary weight and "health issues". Have a great day ahead.

@popciclecold Once a caregiver, always a caregiver. Hubby wants to eat lightly these days though he likes cookies and such. We had mini corn tortillas with melted cheese, kidney beans. On the side cottage cheese with canned pears for supper. Easy and light.
