More shabby chic furniture at our house-sit

We are house-sitting in Greenhills, Western Australia. The collage shows some of the ‘shabby chic’ items which makes up most of the furniture. Upper left is a ‘wheel’ which would have held electrical cable in a previous life. It’s now a coffee table. I don’t know if you can see the wire netting wrapped around the upright section. I couldn’t spread out my jigsaw on it as the top has bolts sticking out and hole in the middle. Upper right is a cupboard that is in the lounge. The shelves hold bottles of wine. Again you can see that it was once coloured a blue-green but now it’s been distressed so that a lot of the paint has been removed. The lower two photos show bedroom cupboards. The one on the left has just three big boxes that can be pulled out but they’d be very heavy. The number of indoor plants has been reduced and there are now only 63. Last year I counted 76. You might notice there are some in every photo.

I remember those spool tables. Those are handy when used for a picnic table.

I had two outside in the back yard in Colrado. My kids would sit on them to eat or read.

They are handy but the tops are pretty rough.

@jstory07 I think they're more suited to outside.

I love this kind of furniture. Sometimes I go to a restaurant with full of arts that were created by local artists with innovative furniture like this.

@JudyEv You are right. They can be pricey.

The items would have been quite cheap to make although the latticed door might have been a bit tricky.

I don't mind it but it's not my favourite style. It's very heavy and chunky-looking.

@judyev shabby stuff can be more expensive sometimes. We’re wondering where we’ll put our many house plants when we move - our new house might end up looking like a botanical greenhouse. Maybe we could charge entry!

63 plants? What a job that is. Thanks for the pictures of the furniture. Interesting.

There are plants in every room and I didn't count the ones that are just growing in bottles or jars of water.

That wire spool is the only 'authentic' piece of shabby chic...

I am noticing that there are plants everywhere. That would be a nightmare for me. I do not like to take care of indoor plants.

@JudyEv - I almost forgot that it is summer in the southern hemisphere. I have to water the outside plants every day in summer.

We didn't lose any last time so I'm hoping they'll last the fortnight. I only have to water most of them once a week. The outdoor pot plants need watering more often as the days have been really hot.

I don't like most stuff like that.

I would never choose it either. I can't see the point of having stuff that looks like it's never been finished off.
