The finished painting of the parrot.

The finished painting of the parrot.

So, tonight after EastEnders I went back into the dining room and put all my painting equipment out again to continue the painting of the parrot. I painted over a few black areas that had accidentally been painted on, and then I did the blue areas on the head, on the top of the outstretched wing and on the side of the other wing. Then I also used the same blue on some of the tail areas that can be seen below the branch the parrot is perching on. The blue I used was cerulean. I then added some black shadows on some of the feathers, and accentuated others. I added darker colours here and there where they were needed, like around the edge of the head where it meets the grey face area and down on the blue of the wing on the right. I also added a streak of white on that wing too. I added more orange to the birds front where the red shadow is, and added more red where it looked too washy. I added more shadow below the branch and on the blue of the tail coming down from behind the branch. I used a fine liner pen to draw in the wrinkles on the birds face because I knew I wouldn't be able to do that with paint and a paint brush. I I painted in the branch and when that was dry I painted in the birds talons. I added what are probably lights in the sky to the background. Then I did a bit of touching up here and there and then I called it finished. I signed it at the bottom with a white gel pen. I hope you are all well and I hope you all have a great night.

@sharonelton When I see parrots and other highly coloured birds I wonder if they’re real. Until they squawk that is.

Yes, they do look unreal with all their bright colours, don't they? I've got a photo of a peacock - I might do him one day!

This is a lovely picture, nice colours. What do you think of Eastenders at the moment ? I think the stories are getting a bit unrealistic.

Thank you very much, I'm glad you like it. I'm glad you like the colours. I like EastEnders. I like it when they have dramatic storylines.

Thank you. What a novel way of commenting! Yes, I did do a lot of touching up on my painting. I felt that the wings were too dark and needed lightening. I'm glad you think so.

Thank you very much. I'm glad you like it. I'm thinking of doing so but there are a few things to think about first. Framed or unframed? What price to ask for. And I also need to find good sturdy secure packaging to send them in.

@sharonelton Try searching online how much others usually sell their artwork for and how they package them. You could make a nice profit from your talent
