Question: What triggers your memories?

There are so many ways or situations where it triggers my memories. For me, whenever I am cooking our local dishes, it makes me remember my deceased mother. The smell of them made me remember how she showed her motherly love. From within, I sometimes felt regret that I did not learn her ways of cooking. In fact, I am still learning it.
Any thoughts about it?

I learned cooking from my mother and use my own innovative ways. I do remember her whenever I cook biryani.

@aninditasen My other siblings are good at cooking. My parents knew that cooking was not my interest when they were still alive. So, they never taught me. Now, I need to because no one can do it at home since my siblings are always out for work.

@Shavkat Necessity is the mother of invention. You realized that you really need to learn cooking after she passed away.

that is an interesting question you asked but I am sorry I have no answer. I do know I remember some things from my past and the recent things I have a hard time remembering. I have no idea why there are things that I can remember and things now that I cannot.

@allknowing It is also nice if we can create a travel blog. I wish I could do this in the future.

Whenever I see seniors, I'm always teary eyed. They remind me of my mother and father. How I wish they are still with us. I still want to do so many things with them, but it's impossible now.
I love everything in the picture. Did you cook all of them?

@Shavkat I also talked to my two siblings when I was already exhausted taking care of my mother and father and didn't know who to take care first. I asked my 2 siblings who passed years ago to please help us and I'll not get scared if they suddenly appear in front of us. My elder sister asked me to stop saying those things, but for me there's nothing wrong. It's not weird at all.

It is sad to say that I just borrowed the photo. I wish I could be a good cook like my mother. But I am learning it at present.
I have the same sentiments when it comes to do more things for my parents. Since they are not here anymore, I always convince myself that they are in good hands now.

Seeing things that look familiar can trigger my memory. I like the many foods on your photo. Seeing okra on your photo reminded me how much I missed eating it.

I have felt the same way. I will prepare food and immediately remember how my Mom used to make it.

What triggers my memories is when I see a building that is close to my home that looks like the same buildings that were in the former Canal Zone in Panama like the commissary or theater.

Like you, when I cook some dishes, it reminds me of my mother who passed away many years ago. She was a very good cook.
