$65 For a Candle?

So I mentioned awhile ago I do some reviews for Amazon in exchange for free items, and several times I have selected candles (I love a nice fragrance throughout my apartment). Once, I picked a candle that was sold for $50, and while I would never spend $50 on a candle, it smelled so good I almost thought it was worth it (almost). The other day I selected another candle, but didn’t check what it retailed for. It was only when I went to write the review that I saw it cost $65. That much money for a medium sized candle blows my mind. But boy, if ever a candle was worth that much money, it was that one. I have never taken in a fragrance that impressive. I could never justify buying it though. I wonder about everyone else though. Would you ever spend $65 on a candle? When you struggle to make ends meet is is such a foreign idea, but what if you had a lot of money?

I wouldn't buy them either, way over priced.

They think they can say it was hand poured, and charge an arm and a leg.

So many items have skyrocketed in price, I guess they figure that if Social Security has gone up then the prices should too.

@rebelann It's always a money grab when "they" know you have it. Have you ever noticed things tend to go up a bit around tax time too?

I'm glad you find the fragrance worth the price. I'm glad you didn't pay that amount for it. No. I would never pay that much for a candle, no matter how nice it smelled.

Oh Heck no! I probably wouldn't even spend 20.00 on a candle. I mean the fragrance and the candle don't last forever.

Yes, absolutely. Candles just don’t last long enough.

Oh my, that is a lot for a candle . For that amount, I would probably never burn it . But no, I don't think I could pay that . . . or even half of that would be a lot too!

I tried to imagine a situation where i would buy it. I decided if I have 10 million dollars, and am married to a 6’4 guy who looks like Derek Jeter or Matthew McConaughey, I will probably buy it.

If I had a lot of money, I would buy it. I didn't know you could write a review and get an item in exchange from Amazon. Sounds like a good deal.

It’s some program they do where they invite a certain amount of people for their Amazon Vine program. I had never heard of it until I got an invitation.

Nope. I would never spend $50 or $65 for a candle. I did see some in a store once selling for that and I swore it was mislabeled. But all the rest were the same price. I was floored. I DO have money and I would never pay that much for a candle. Ever.

I also can’t imagine sticking that price on a candle with a straight face.

@ambiepam I think the $65 is better in your pocket than in theirs. Handpoured? So what? And no candle lasts long enough. There's a shop I go to that sells rejects of everything, and really expensive candles sell for pennies just because of some flaw - that's where I buy my wife candles. My favourite sniffy flavour is turf or embers.

I really wish we had a candle shop like that. I just don’t ever buy any because the cheap ones irritate my sinuses, and I cringe at spending more than ten dollars on one. Unless it is a candle of the Mystery Machine van with Scooby Doo, Velma, Shaggy, Fred, and Daphne. I did but that candle once for $15. Still not sorry I did that.

I would not pay over $10.00 for a candle let along $65.00 but it is good to get it free

I would never spend so much on a candle even if I had lot of money. I would have rather converted the money to assets like house, jewelry, car, agricultural land etc.

@AmbiePam To me, it sounds like a lot of money to spend on a candle. I would pass and use the money for things I needed.

Anything over $10 for a candle I would not even think about buying. Even if I had a lot of money, I probably would not want to spend it because I am so used to not having money haha. But that is good that you can do review for them in exchange for free items...then you can try things you normally wouldn't buy!

Amen. I have tried some face products I’d never ever spend the money on if they weren’t free. I’m not worried about the elasticity of my skin or my under eye circles…yet. Give me five years, Courtney, and I might be!

I would not spend so much on a candle but since it is for sale I am sure there will be others who do.

I could get some more groceries for that money, I sure would not buy that candle, I have some scented candles in holders that I bought for around $2 and they are nicely scented too,

I wouldn't pay this on principle. Within reason, we can buy pretty much what we want in the form of groceries and knick-knacks and stuff but often I won't on principle as I feel I'm just being ripped off.
