The Rooster Won

Well today did not go as planned at all! We had planned on looking at new Smart TV's and then running to the flea market to restock and tidy up. I ran outside to check on eggs in the chicken coop while hubby locked up his shed and then we were going to get ready real fast and leave. I ended up getting attacked by the BAD rooster and this time he got the best of me. Thank God I had on my glasses or I would be missing an eye or maybe both. The photo above is the good side. We went to Urgent Care first because they told my husband on the phone that they could do stitches there, but once we got there and they saw how close to my eye it was, they sent me to the Emergency Room. I ended up with stitches in two places, one under my left eye and one on the side and turning down on left eye. I got a Tetanus shot and some strong antibiotics. The most painful part was the shot to deaden my face which had to be stuck in multiple areas. I'm feeling okay tonight, just very sore. Tomorrow the rooster will meet his maker. That's how my day went, how was yours?

Oh my goodness, this looks really bad, I am so sorry and I hope you are not in pain now and you will be fine soon. No pity for the rooster.

That is the good side!! It just hurts today if I sneeze or smile--it pulls on the stitches. It's better today when I chew, so that is good since I have to eat!! So, better today!!

@LadyDuck Right! I have allergies and everything is starting to bloom here. Today was better. The rain seemed to clear the air.

@kareng - You can try to avoid to smile, but it's hard if you have to sneeze, I remember how much my husband was concerned about sneezing after his hernia surgery, the doctor told him not to sneeze for a few days.

That is awful. I am glad it wasn't worse as it could have been. I think that pot of chicken and dumplings will taste very good. The numbing medicine is the worst. It burns as it goes in.

Well the man doesn't want to clean it, so I guess it will be tossed into the woods to attract coyotes --not happy about that!! We will see. YESS!! And I am hoping I don't have to go get another stitch put in. Had bleeding right before bed, but probably because I looked down for too long...gravity!!

@wolfgirl569 Tomorrow is going to be his final day. And yes, he will be skinned. I had wanted to go to the flea market Sunday, but this medicine has me groggy. So we stayed home and it was too late to start that anyway. Today was doctor day in Baton Rouge for him so Tuesday it is.

@kareng Just skin it is the easy way. But he has probably already tossed it. You will have some bleeding at times. Just watch it

Waiting on the man to get back up. He was up early but went back to bed and is crashed out now. I haven't been out there to feed chickens yet, but will probably just throw it in and be done with it.

Oh, Karen!! That looks so terribly painful, I'm so sorry! I have dealt with some mean chickens before and one did peck my hand so bad one time I had to have some stitches, but not like this! I hope you don't hurt too terribly bad! The rooster definitely needs to meet his maker! Take good care!

I worry that rooster will go after someone else...and he has done enough damage! I bet it still hurts, and so close to the eye has to be painful! Remember rest really helps with healing, get some naps in!

Roosters can be so nasty. Thank God he didn't spur into your eye. Way back when hubby had a fight with a rooster. Rooster made for a tough stew but he sure didn't hang around otherwise. I hope you are on strong pain meds.

You will really enjoy eating chicken soup. We had to deal with a really aggressive rooster at a house-sit. Vince would go in the pen with me with a garden rake and keep him at bay while I collected the eggs. They can really be quite dangerous as I'm sure you knew even before this happened.

Good heavens! Didn't realise that chickens could be so dangerous. Glad it wasn't as bad as it could have been from what the medic's said.

It was a rooster that has the claws on back of feet. That is what did the damage. I was lucky it wasn't worse. That is the good side of my face in picture. Stitches are all on the other side!!

@Happy2BeMe I have to eat to take this medicine. I'm surprised I am still not reacting to it. In the past I have never been able to handle this at 500 mg and I have 875 mg prescribed now. Also, everything is blooming here so lots of pollen and sneezing going on. As for smiling, I can forgo that.
