4/27/24 - Update on My Husband

He continues to walk with a walker. He said he did pretty well yesterday. I have an appointment with my favorite Social Worker on Wednesday. They do a quarterly meeting to discuss what your plan of care is for your person, etc. She was SO pleasant on the phone....it wanted to barf. When I told her I was coming in rather than having a phone discussion, she was beside herself! I am going to contact the doctor that works occasionally at the facility to see if he will write a script for home PT when the time comes. Hubs wants burgers, fries and a drink on Wednesday. We will have to figure out how to do that. I will have to call the Business Office again on Monday to see about getting our refund. Received a statement from Cleveland Clinic. It had two bills on it. One for $80,000 and one for $210,000. Fortunately our responsibility was only for $2,530. Thank you for your continued support, prayers and thoughts. Photo Credit: Pixabay

The hospitals costs are outrageous, I am glad you only had a small copay. It's a very good idea to discuss with the Social Worker, surely your husband will need to continue to exercise at home.

@vandana7 - Hard go get under the skin of some people, but we must manage to "be polite" as we need them.

I’m happy to hear your husband continues to make progress. Will he be allowed to eat burgers and fries?

@LindaOHio Haha, I figured that's what you would do. I've done that before when family members have been in the hospital. Like you said, they don't say anything about it, just turn their heads and look the other way.

Are you sure that it is safe for him to eat that? Better ask a doctor first. I´m so glad that he is better.

Always praying for his improvement! While you’re at the facility you can take him some burgers and fries and a can of whoopass for the business office. “Hey, since I’m here, give me my check back.”

You should be able to bring food in to him! I bet he will enjoy that very much! And, the doctor should also comply with the PT at home! It sounds like he is getting close to discharge!

Good thing you don't have to pay the big bills!! Gulp! Glad hubby is walking with a walker now. Sounds good. Has he walked outside at all? That would be really good for him..and he could get some Vitamin D.

Yes, families are entitled to attend Care Plan meetings and I am glad you will do so. When you see hospital bills like that you are always thankful for insurance kicking in.

It's so wonderful to hear good news about your husband. I'm dealing with BC/BSNC about a $568 refund they owe me (long story.) But I won't give up. It's already starting out as a nightmare and I know you are well acquainted with that.
