Special May Memories

Back in 1969 The Bee Gees recorded a song “The First of May”. It was released as a single and featured in their album Odessa. It may not have made it to number one but it is a lovely and poignant song, When I listen to this love ballad I remember my life in Riga, Latvia particularly when I hear these lovely lyrics about apple trees of which we had five in our garden. The Apple tree that grew for you and me I watched the apples falling one by one And I recall the moment of them all The day I kissed your cheek and you were gone Has anyone heard this song before? I have included another poetic meme that I created with a photo of one of our apple trees.

I think that one of the albums I snagged at the flea market yesterday for only $.25 was of the Bee Gees! I found four oldies but goodies and only paid a buck!! Loved them back in the day!

I love and sing along to "Stayin Alive" from the Bee Gees. That is the only song of theirs I remember. What years did they sing? I don't think I was born yet for all their songs. I was born in the very early 1970s Thank you for sharing this great song!

@RasmaSandra I often wondered how people knew all that music I am going to try YouTube to figure out who sings the songs of the classics (the 70s and 80s music) i don't remember most of the 70s and not until the mid-80s. But I still enjoy those eras so much. My cat taps or wags his tail to the tune of the music! Between you and me I think he adores music!

I liked the Bee Gees but am unfamiliar with the song. Apple blossom season was always my favorite as a child growing up on a farm with an apple orchard. It as such a dreamy time of the year with so many beautiful white flowers on the trees.

Their songs are soo good. All of them. Never heard this one before, but possibly heard it playing in my dad’s room. Check out For Whom the Bell Tolls sometime. Came out in the 90’s, beautiful song.
