I blew out my knee yesterday.

I was not hauling heavy speakers or bending at an awkward angle. I was kneeling down to pick up a guitar pick a student had dropped. I cannot put any pressure of my left knee. A friend (actually an ex-girlfriend with whom I have a good relationship) brought me some sushi and crutches last night. And some wine. Today I will visit the doctor. I have no idea what is going on. The pain is only 2/10 as I sit at my desk. But it's a 9.5/10 if I try to put pressure on the knee. Have you ever had a knee injury? Have you ever felt totally helpless?

Definitely get it looked at. Hopefully it’s nothing serious. I’ve blown out both of my knees and have been told repeatedly that I need knee replacement surgery. But, alas, they say I’m still too young for the bionic knees!

@TheHorse Nah, I've got a great surgeon who actually looks out for his patients. I blew me knees out when I was 50. He told me that with the current materials and technology we have, artificial knees are only good for about 15 years and then they have to be replaced again. He said that the first surgery to do it would be easy and that my body would recover quickly, but he said the second time would be a lot worse. Besides, he did such great work on my knee surgeries earlier that I have not been in any pain at all over the past 5 years, despite me best efforts to destroy my knees playing paintball tournaments.

Don't wait until they tell you you're too old.

@moffittjc There is nothing quite like a doctor who is intelligent and explains things well.

Any incident that causes pain and crutches is concerning. It’s hard to get around and seems to take forever to heal. Take good care, Pony!!

I am really sorry, I never had serious problems with my knees, but I had a problem with a shoulder. I refused surgery, physical therapy adjusted the problem.

I am adjusting to these crutches. I just got back from my kitchen to my desk (with a cup of coffee!) in under two minutes.

So sorry, it's hard to do hardly anything when your knee is in such pain. Hopefully the doc can help.

The x-rays looked good. Nothing to do but ice and wait.

No fun and I'm sorry. My knees are toast. Years ago I foolishly took on a horse that I should have left alone. My left knee cap has never been the same.

@TheHorse The mare yanked on the bit and refused to mind. She started galloping and I flew off to the side on my left knee.

@sallypup My mare could be a tad headstrong as well. But we never did hurt each other. I am glad you survived.

That sounds rough! I caused a spasm in my back just stretching yesterday. I don't recommend getting old.

Oh man, and you are upstairs. Yes, I have had my knee go out and have had to take a lot of NSAIDS for it. Once it even kept me out of work for two or three days. It comes and goes. About three years back or so my primary care doctor sent me to physical therapy. It helps.

Well, I have experienced Knee stiffness an slight pain, mainly due to lesser activity. Yet your pain sounds like something for which you would need Physiotherapy. I think you would need to follow what the Doctor says.

Knees have been an issue now ..do you remember, I told you I was staring at ceiling and so was aunt and Dad was doing all the work. Well, it is was the knee issue, right? I feel sorry for you. I just found an interesting old age home plus assisted old age home here, which serves non veg though not beef and possibly not pork either. It is fairly affordable too. Use knee caps...they help.

@TheHorse It would be unwise too, unless you have some issues in your country thanks to ongoing war.

Knees seem to be the first casualty when it comes to even a gentle fall or a pressure. Take care.

I'm sorry you injured your knee doing something simple. Yes, I have. I tore my MCL several years ago. It took a long time to heal.

no. But I did have some knee pain a few weeks ago. It was from using a little bench as a foot stool. I bought actual foot stool now (which has knobs to massage your feet) and I now don't have knee pain.

I am glad you have found something that helps you. I am still in pain but missed only the day of work when I went to the hospital. Tomorrow evening's gig should be interesting.

Oh that was a weird way to blow it out!! I used to throw my back out at least once a year but just a certain movement and I never actually figured out what the move was--even after it happened. It was just routine and possibly I twisted too for one way or the other. Hope you are on the road to recovery now!! That dr. visit went okay?

I recall an issue with my right knee when I put pressure on it while getting up. It took months to heal but I knew it was nothing serious to warrant specialist treatment. A few relatives have issues with knees and ankle fractures and that is a constant reminder to me to watch my every step!

Oh no! I am so, so sorry. When I needed my knee and hip replaced probably comes close to the pain you're having. Try and have a good weekend.
