What candy did you start liking in childhood and still like it today?

That would be most for me, but one thing I particularily loved as a small child and still enjoy today is Butterscotch Buttons. I think most know what they are, but for those that don't, it is butterscotch flavored candy wrapped in a yellow cellophane wrapper. I haven't had any in quite sometime..but the lady who has the haircut shop sort of has a boutique corner. The buttons were only a buck so I had to have them. These were generic though, and not nearly as good as those made by Brachs..but still I enjoyed them. I am a sucker for anything butterscotch or caramel. What do you like from the time you were young?

We were not given candy often as children. I do remember at Christmas time my mother would fill candy dishes, as we entertained alot, with those candies that were coloured licorice. I do still like those, although I haven't had one in years.

In terms of licorice I was always partial to black, the anise flavored ones. I like that today too.

@snowy22315 I am really careful to eat it since I was a young child because when I got sick on what turned out to be my last day of school before I had my brain surgery, it was on black licorice. Even the smell of it today scares me.

We didn’t have a lot of candy, it was definitely a treat for us. I have always loved chocolate and coconut together, so I really did love Almond Joy bars. Heath bars were a definite favorite as well, I still like them too.

@MarieCoyle Maybe, the Boyer candy company is in Altoona PA. You can get them at some places in this area, but they aren't wildely sold. Tractor Supply U think sells them here. You could check there if you are curious. It is in a format like Reese's cups..but instead have whipped marsmellow, but not overwhelming and coconut bits.

Most like chocolate . However, I remember once when I was a kid I had a 3 Musketeers bar..took a bite and spit it out. I thought it was way too sweet. I have eaten them since of course, but never one of my favorites.

@snowy22315 I buy them every now and again from the Dollar Tree or Dollar General. My Nana would buy my brother and I some from Sears when she worked there. When they had a candy area where you could buy candy buy the pound.

I tend to be a little too fond of anything sweet. I liked banana laffy taffy, and also liked fire stix. Fire stix were a hard candy with a lot of cinnamon flavor. A nickel for one and it was maybe 2 inches by 5 inches, 1/4 inch thick. The point was to lick it and make it last and shape it into sharp knife like shapes. No chewing it as it would just stick your jaw together.

Oh my god, this question has rekindled my old childhood memories. This is really going to be nostalgic... As far as eating candies in childhood is concerned, I used to have that had a sweet and bitter taste. Though there were a few of other companies as well, the one that I am talking about, a local company uses to make it. That's why I don't really remember the name of that company, but yes the quality of the candies was quite high class. But being a child, any of those candies were enough to give us a high class taste... hahaha

I haven't seen them for awhile, but Charms suckers had that sweet and sour thing going on. I liked those alot...these days they make a caramel green apple flavored lollypop that has that vibe going on. Also, some of the gummy worms have that too..and or sour patch kids.

Ha ha - yah, I was going to say pretty much all of them too . Oh yah, I remember the Brachs butterscotch - good stuff that I haven't had in decades now - but we didn't call them "buttons". We grew up on Japanese candies. One in particular I loved were "Milky" . . . kinda like small individually wrapped milky/vanilla softer-than taffies. It still exists, but packaged differently . . . I'm mostly not into these types of candies anymore but THESE I'll take anytime!!

I had some favorite candies and they were all colorful. Each candy was small and it had a different taste. The green one had an apple taste. Now they can't be found anywhere. They disappeared.

Mommy always loved Milky Ways when she was sick at the end and went to the hospital a few times, my sister bought a large box of very large-sized Milky Ways. My sister told me when mommy listened to the doctor's instructions to give her a candy bar. she would refuse to take the medicine and bully me into giving her the candy. I am a soft touch and she knew that

Well, I was a KitKat person in night . Used to have that every 3 days while I was 3 -4 year old and that was fun. I used to enjoy the bite and take time with each bite. As I gew up , Kinder Suprise, Ferroro and Kopiko were my favourites. Well, I used to enjoy those and sometimes I do buy those even today just to rememeber the old times and enjoy the taste. Thanks for sharing your favourite!
