I Had a Great Time.

I mentioned standing in for a teacher who went under the knife. It was a 3-day gig and yesterday was my last day. I had six classes. I had a great time with the elementary students except for the middle schoolers. The latter were very cooperative and eager to learn. I could not believe how disrespectful the middle schoolers were. The place is just a language learning center, not a traditional school. But, students should respect adults regardless of where they are. Ironically, I appeared invisible before them. As the teacher, of course, I arrived earlier than the students, a little later they came in. Not even one said, "hi" to me. I felt like I was invisible to their eyes. The students were flat-out rude and disrespectful.

Students these days are much more aggressive than those from back in the day. I know of incidents of fights between teacher and student.

I miss our old times, when students are very respectful to the oolder ones and fear their teachers. Anyway, one factor is the upbringing of parents. When I was little my mom will always told me to be respectful to teachers and classmates... but nowadays the students are so entitled. I am not generalizing but that is one factor, bad disciplining of parents and wrong mindset at home .
