It reminds me of a Louis CK bit he did in a stand-up special.. And I notice it, too. No one asks for prices. A guy walks into a saloon, "I need a room. A woman. A shave. Steak dinner" and all you had to do was toss a coin at the counter.
Maybe it's just an American thing, especially Westerns.
