Have You Seen "Ugly Fruits" and "Ugly Vegetables" in the Market?

Today, I saw a sign in the fresh produce section of a supermarket that said "ugly fruits" and "ugly vegetables." Though this isn't the first time I've seen such sign, it still is kinda funny and odd to see the word "ugly" used that way. I get what they mean. I guess it’s a clever way to sell those not-so-perfect-looking fruits and veggies at a cheaper price. I looked through them, but there wasn’t anything I needed. Still, if there's something I need, I wouldn’t mind buying from there. You just have to pick the best-looking "ugly" ones! Honestly, it can be practical to buy "ugly" produce—they're usually cheaper, and they taste just as good! Most of the time, they’re just labeled “ugly” because they’re oddly shaped, have blemishes, or are smaller than the flawless ones. Have you seen these "ugly" produce labels in your area? Do you buy them?

I have not seen like this in my city or other places in my country. It would not be a good marketing strategy of sellers here.

Lol, really? I think it’s a pretty clever idea! Maybe it’s just not as common everywhere, but it helps reduce food waste and offers cheaper options. Different places have different marketing strategies!

@pitsipeahie I do agree with that. It can be related to people's mindset and culture.

The stuff in the grocery stores here is old and not good, I know what you mean.

Right? It's such a letdown when you go shopping and the produce is already looking tired. Makes you wonder how long it's been sitting there!
