I love good garments.

But I´m not one of those people who buy lots of clothes that are disposable. I am shocked and sad that there is a dump in the middle of the Atacama desert where new clothes that aren´t sold are placed. Retailer buy containers full of cheap clothes from Asia, select a couple of garments that are sold in their stores and throw away the rest. With a few of the garments they make enough profit. This post is being written because some of my friends here are like myself. We buy a good and expensive pair of sneakers and they last years. My new slipins Sketchers are in my feet ever since they invented them. I bought them because it is difficult for me to bend and then I started to sing as My Fair Lady: "I could have danced all night". Some years ago I discovered that I did not have a pair of pants to wear on special occasions. I bought one that "grew" with me (elastic instead of buttons), and black that goes with anything. Those are my elecgant pants although they were fairly inexpensive. They go with any blouse. And I put on the only earrings I bought after the burglars took everything, some expensive perfume and I´m perfect. The pants hide the Sketchers. I don´t have a pair of shoes that I can wear in my hurting feet. If I find a pair, I´ll buy them no matter what the price. They will last me until I die. How do you relate with clothes? Do you buy a lot? Do they last a lot? Share.

I mostly buy as per need. A few times I buy something extra. Yet then I try not to waste. I don't like binge buying which many people do. Dumping of clothes is not a good thing. H & M outlets have provision for clothes recycling which is a good initiative. Some of my jackets have lasted 17 to 24 years ! Some others don't last beyond 3 to 4 seasons.

I am giving aways some of the garments I don´t use. Many are 25 or more years "young". I remember a pile of sweater I had to give away once that my grandson came over. He told me that he would not peek as they were women´s clothes. He went away with several. Sweaters are the same for men and women. They were almost new after many years. I take good care of my clothes.

It has been a long time that I bought some clothes for myself. It is because I do not need to do it for now.

@Shavkat I never buy clothes that I don´t wear, except for some clothes that people give me and don´t fit.

My relatives and myself like to buy used clothes from the local hand me down stores in Lake Charles or clothing that is on sale at the local discount stores. The clothes do last a long time before they are in need of being replaced.

I buy clothes once in a while but I like the ones that fit me perfectly. They last me for a long time and even then I hand then down to someone else.

@Deepizzaguy I don´t need to do that. The next generation of my loved ones "grab" them.

@marguicha Same with my relatives and myself when we need to get rid of our old clothes. We donate them to a charity.

I have stopped buying any clothes for these 1.5+ years. I want to dispose a lot of mine old clothes which are still new and do not adhere to my changed taste..

I have not bought much these last 25 years. And I have given away lots of my clothes. I have hardly bought any garments besides underwear and a couple of jeans. But sometimes I receive a blouse from a friend for my birthday.

I've had clothes since I was a teenager, some of which my daughter is now wearing. I admit that I love new clothes but I'm increasingly buying less quantity but of better quality.

I have always loved good quality. Decades ago, my mother (a very good seamstress) taught me how to sew. I used the best fabrics so they were always very good. Now I buy very little but always the best.

I buy basics and wear them until they wear out. The same goes with shoes. I have 2 pairs of shoes. They were fairly expensive; but I have a hard foot to fit and they must be comfortable. I will wear them out before I throw them out. Have a good weekend.

I wear my clothes and shoes for a long time although they are usually a bit expensive. My shoes are always very good for the same reason you have. I´m not interested in brands unless they mean comfort. Now I´m an addict to Skechers but that does not mean that I have many. The last ones I bought was when they offered "slip ins". As it is difficult to bend, I loved them.

@LindaOHio Have you tried asking them online. They have more sizes than in stores. Slip ins were a wonder for me as I have to use something special to slip my feet in usually.

@marguicha I wanted to try the Skechers (someone always has to put my shoes and socks on for me); but they didn't have my size.

There is one particular shop from where I buy my office clothes while working, so whenever I go there, I pick up at least four or five sets for work. Since the shop is very far away I pick up a few sets whenever I visit that area. Rest I buy as and when I need.

I bought two summer blouses at an op shop while we were away. I only took one summer blouse but the weather was warm and I needed another. I bought two for less than the price of a new one.

I don't buy a lot of clothes. I buy second-hand clothes. If I go out I need new clothes. The second-hand clothes were expensive and they already have problems.

I buy exactly what I want and need once in a while but prefer something good that will be useful for years.

Comfortable shoes are worth the price even if you cant pay rent for three months. Stores throw these clothes away? What a shame.

I absolutly agree with you. In both statements. My feet are precious. And one thing that we could all do is to learn how to buy less but better clothing. And demand that from stores.

I am a minimalist person. I do not buy lot of clothes . I buy limited indoor , outdoor clothes and use them to maximum. My clothes purchase are usually once in 2-3 years. In this way, I make best use of the clothes I have at a given time and when they show wear and tear, start looking for new ones. Some of my clothes do last longer . Unfortunately the brands associated with them have closed down .For shoes, they last almost 2 years and that is an area I am trying to improve. I also do not want my wardrobe to be cluttered with clothes .

I use my clothes for a long time. And as I sun dry them, the garments last longer. I have some clothes that are 20 or more years old.
