In a Funk

Like many of you, I’m in a funk over the sad news of the passing of one of our myLotters, Kharla. Earlier today B (@pitsipeahie ) wrote a discussion about how myLot is a “community” of sorts. And it really is. Where else can you meet people from Ireland, Australia, Canada, India, AND a horse named George?? Our community is missing a giant piece now. Kharla was a woman of great faith, and I have no doubt that her faith is reality today as she worships in the presence of her God. I pray that faith sustains her husband, Jay (who’s a minister) in the coming days, weeks, and years. Even when you have faith and know they’re not “gone forever,” it still hurts. So tomorrow I’ll hopefully get going with the 100 days of my 100 favorite songs. If not, I’m sure you understand. You’re probably in a little bit of a funk, too. The photo is from a vacation stop in Alabama. That’s Noccalula Falls in Gadsden. In the summer it’s barely a trickle, but this was in the spring.

You addressed the way that I am feeling since the news of Kharla's passing. I did not sleep well last night. I thought of her, and hoped that her final hours were peaceful. I remember when Fredo and Gilly passed, I never knew if it was peaceful or not, nor will I, and this is the same. But in my heart there will always be a prayer that they are safely together and did not suffer. Thank you for this thoughtful post, it really resonated with me today.

I don’t care if miles and oceans separate us, or if we have never met “in real life,” friendship is friendship. I’m glad we’re leaning on one another here.

@FourWalls I truly admired Kharla's ''never, ever give up'' spirit. She just shook off the negatives and found a positive to strive for, and marched ahead. I know how hard that can really be, as I am sure most of us do. It's OK to be in a funk. It's hard to lose a friend.

Our bodies are quite fragile, and so much goes on inside of them that we don’t know about.

I don't know how I feel. I saw the obit, and all I know is it had to be sudden and unexpected. Unless she suffered a silent battle we were not aware of.

@FourWalls When I think back to our conversations about the house and how resigned she sounded, almost convinced she wouldn't get to see the finished product, I suspected she knew then. She could've been, but she had been private never one to go into detail about her medical issues and mishaps. Looking back at her profile the 18th was the last day she was active to her normal standards, and she made one final post on the 19th. And no mention of anything. Just a one-legged bird.

Kharla was such a sweet and nice lady, I miss her, but I am glad to know that she had faith and now she is surely enjoying to be in that better place where she often dreamed to be. May be she is her lovely dog Kobe now. MyLot is a wonderful community.

Lovely photo. Hey, that totally threw me for a loop. Now I never waver in my faith so I am trying hard to think why she was given her heavenly home now and was not meant to have her new home on earth, I know there is a reason and explanation and what makes it easier for me I sure know Kobe is by her side and making it easier for her to adjust,

Yes, she will. Even after four years every time I post a Linda Ronstadt song I think of John Roberts. So Kharla will always be here with us in memory.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's hard to lose a friend. I'm in a funk this weekend, too - I was supposed to go to my family reunion, but we've had our poor kitty in and out of the vet hospital, and I'm the only one who can take him, because my husband is quarantining with Covid.

@FourWalls thank you. Kiyo says he's feeling okay, just has a persistent cough. It's his birthday today, poor man - we'll celebrate it properly when he can go out for a nice meal.

It's always sad to lose someone in our MyLot family. I know how unhappy she was, waiting for their home to be finished. I'm glad she is now happy with her Lord and Kobe. I hope you can enjoy the holiday today. Kharla would want us to.
