Losing Hair

Ever since I started the Keto diet a few years ago, my hair has become brittle and prone to falling out. Sometimes I wonder if I should have avoided the diet altogether, especially since I regained all the weight I initially lost. It’s funny in a way, but also frustrating. I often find strands of my hair on the floor in my room, in the bathroom, and even on the carpet. I make sure to vacuum them up every night when I get home from work. I've tried using coconut milk and aloe vera on my hair after reading that they might help with regrowth. I also switched to a shampoo with fewer chemicals, but nothing seems to work. I guess my only option now is to chop it off and hope that its luster returns. What about you? What do you use for your hair to avoid hair problems?

My sister used to take Biotin (over the counter), and her hair got thicker and quit falling out. You might also talk to your doctor if it seems like a really big deal, to rule out anything else might be going on.

I remember that my dermatologist suggested Biotin.

Ah, yes, I took Biotin years back while on Keto. I think it's the missing piece.

Whether you're still on the Keto diet or not, it sounds like your hair is still feeling the effects? Maybe it’s missing some essential nutrients? Did you consult a doctor or nutritionist about the diet, or was it something you decided on your own? Listening to your body is key. If you’ve tried different things and nothing's working, maybe it’s worth consulting a doctor or professional to get to the root of the problem instead of just chopping your hair off. That seems like a quick fix without knowing the real issue. Might help temporarily but knowing the real reason behind the hair loss would be more helpful in the long run.

Yeah, I should see a nutritionist or a medical expert for my hair condition. For sure, I lack some essential nutrients in my body which is why I have these effects. Thank you for your response.

If your hair started falling out since the Keto diet - there is the answer. You are probably missing a key nutrient for healthy hair , and to make matters worse you have gained back the weight you lost. You should talk to a nutritionist for advice . I personally have no confidence in diets, so back in 2004, when l reached 180 lbs and decided that l must lose, l became semi vegetarian. I still have eggs and fish occasionaly, but l cut out sodas, icecream, milkshakes, cakes , cookies, fried foods , pork ,red meat, processed foods etc. I eat legumes, whole grains and lots of fibre. Since then l have never experienced the flu or a cold and for the last 10 years my weight has remained between 110 and 112. I know for sure l will never put on back the weight .
