My husband and I are both teachers, and we’ve been living abroad since 2017. Stepping out of our comfort zone has allowed us to learn more about other people and their cultures. Whenever we get the chance to travel to nearby countries in Asia, we usually seize the opportunity. It’s an incredibly liberating experience, even though planning the trips can sometimes be tiring.
Living abroad has broadened my perspective in many ways. I used to be quite narrow-minded when it came to understanding different religious beliefs and cultures, but now I find myself more empathetic and open to where others are coming from. Of course, there are both pros and cons to being away from family and living independently, but the opportunities for personal and professional growth make it all worthwhile.
What about you? Have you tried living in other countries and staying away for too long? Do you like it?

It sure did. Life abroad is not always perfect and it always has its highs and lows. Being away from our family and visa-related issues start creeping in, but the positive aspects what keeps us going. Thank you for the comment.

@rakski That's true. I don't think I'd be able to survive living abroad without him, especially during the pandemic. I'm always a cry baby and get too emotional overy petty things and he's been there to support me. Were in Vietnam.

@galileo2008 but think of the positive side. You have your husband with you unlike the other OFW who are alone and away from family.
If I may ask, where are you right now kabayan?

And that's okay. I think going abroad may work for other people, but it won't be the same for others - and it's fine.

I lived in the US for a year and a half when I was around 12 years old. That changed me completly and forever. At first I was angry with the lack of understanding of my culture that other children had and then I started to understand. That changed my mind and it is still changing it although now I only go abroad through television and online. I wish every person had the possibility of going away at least once for a long period of time.

Adapting to changes in a new environment is also a bit challenging for me. I always get too anxious and scared when I am not familiar with the place—let alone staying there for a couple of months. However, my husband loves it and has been helping me cope with the situation. Now, I feel like traveling to other places helps me a lot. Watching YouTube videos about certain destinations has also become one of our favorite hobbies. Not only do they provide us with information, but they also inspire us to visit those places.

I can see how stepping out of your comfort zone like that would be both challenging and rewarding. It is definitely an eye opening experience!
