Today’s problem.

I made a list today of all the things I need to do before I go on holiday in 14 days time - it’s unlikely they’ll all get done, but at least the list looks nice. The most pressing duty is to get a haircut - a boy likes to look smart on holiday, but that task is fraught with difficulty. How do you find a barber in a new town? I googled for barbers near me and read the reviews and was not happy. One place, the reviews said, was great because the staff all laughed and joked - I want a haircut, not a comedy routine, and I prefer to have my barber focus on the job in hand. Another place had several reviews that claimed that when the reviewers went in they were told their hair was too long for the barber to cut - he only cuts short hair. Another place was reviewed as being “slap dash” and the barber was described as “scissor happy”. A lot of the barbers are Turkish or Kurdish, but they only do one style of haircut - short and sharp, and I don’t want to look too neat and tidy. Besides, they are more geared for the younger market rather than for gents of maturity and a thinning mane. Furthermore, in those establishments there is usually a congregation of hangers on draped over chairs talking away to the barber in Turkish and I don’t like that. Maybe I’ll wait till I get to Athens.

Good luck with finding a barber. My husband got his beard and haircut in rehab; and it's so short I almost didn't recognize him; but it will grow back. Have a good day.

I would wait until you get to Athens, they’ll make you look like a Greek god.
