I did not know coconut juice when I has a child. There were no coconuts around and they only sold it grated (the white part) to use for cookies. I had to grow up a lot to learn about coconunts and specially about piƱa coladas.

I still do it. I can buy the coconut milk in cans or packets but l am trying to use less and less processed stuff. Added to that we have quite a number of coconut trees on the property. The only difference with now and back then is that l don't necessarily have to grate the coconut to extract the milk, instead l can use a blender.
