Our boiler isn't working.

On Saturday Syd came in to the living room and said the gas man was coming on Sunday between 10:00am and 2:00pm because the boiler wasn't working. That night I was going to do some washing up, and I was trying to run some hot water, but it wasn't coming out very hot. So I said to my Mum, Is that why the water's not coming out very hot? And my Mum said, Oh, ofcause! I never thought of that. So she told me to boil a kettle of water and add that to the cold water in the bowl, so that's what I did. So yesterday, (Sunday) we waited for the gas man to come. I didn't go to Church because of the rain, so I was watching Freedom Church on YouTube. No gas man. I did my lunch. No gas man. 2:00pm came and still no gas man. I did the washing up, then I went into the dining room, where Mum was still sitting, and said, I'm going to the toilet, so listen out for the gas man, although it's after 2:00pm now, so I don't know if he'll be coming now! Later my Mum said Syd had checked the website and it said the gas man comes our between 10:00am and 6:00pm, not 10:00am and 2:00pm, so there was still time for him to come yet. But 6:00pm came and he still didn't come! Then Syd said the gas man should now be coming today (Monday) between 10:00am and 6:00pm! But then, when I got up this morning, Syd said now the gas man should be coming between 12:00 midday and 6:00pm! And he'll be doing a service aswell as mending the boiler. And I haven't done any laundry this morning because, well, no hot water. I said to my Mum when I get my own house I'm going to have electric central heating. It was so cold inside this morning, I went and put a cardy on. Then Mum said that Syd had said maybe I could put my little electric heater on. But Wynne Evans was on the BBC Morning Live programme talking about Saturday night's dancing on Strictly, so I waited till after that before I went to fetch my heater and swapped my fan for it! And last night, when I went to clean my teeth, the water coming out of the hot tap was so icy cold, it went right through my teeth when I was swilling my mouth out! I usually like to put a bit of warm water in for when I'm swilling my mouth out to take the coldness off, but ofcause, with the boiler not working, I couldn't do that! So I really hope this gas man comes soon! It's 12:00 midday here now, so he can come any time he likes! How is your day going so far? I hope you are all well. Have a nice day.

I like to swill my mouth with something other than icy cold water too. I hope the gas man comes soon and fixes your boiler.

Yes, I'm glad you know what I mean! I hope so too. He can come any time now, thank you very much!

The recommendation is NOT to rinse (swill) your mouth out after cleaning your teeth, but just to spit out the excess toothpaste. This allows the toothpaste to continue to do its work after brushing. This is a free public service announcement

@Orson_Kart I don't think I could cope with that - free announcement or not. Toothpaste in general dries out my mouth and throat something awful but I still use it. And I'm getting a filling tomorrow. Woe is me!

@sharonelton this will never do. Last time I had the gas man out to see to our boiler in the garage I was fuming that he hadn’t come and later realised that he’d been and gone within an hour of me phoning him. He just dandered on round to the garage, did his stuff then left without saying anything.

@sharonelton It’s good to have gas again. Workmen do things that way here. Even the amazon man just opens the front door and walks on in to give us parcels - doesn’t even knock.

The gas man came and fixed the boiler yesterday, so everything's fine now. It's a bit silly the gas man coming and not telling you! Didn't you have any paperwork to sign or anything?

@xFiacre I'd prefer everything to be electric! I'm not too keen on gas! The Amazon delivery man wouldn't be able to do that here because we keep our doors locked!

I hope the gas man shows up and fixes the problem. Today our housekeeper's mother is taking me to get my hair cut; and I will treat her to lunch/dinner at Red Lobster. Have a good day.

Thank you very much. Yes, he came and fixed it yesterday and did a service at the same time. It's nice and toasty warm in here again now and the hot water is running properly.

I hope the boiler gets fixed. Living without such appliances is difficult. Keep updating.

I hope the boiler gets fixed too. I'm cold and my cardy won't zip up. Yes, it is difficult. I've had to boil a kettle for hot water to add to the cold water to wash the dishes up!
