Unmindful Scrolling

Spending five minutes on social media is a great way to spend two hours on social media. Do you agree? I am guilty of this. I don't spend too much time on FB but I am heavy on YouTube. Once I become absorbed in YouTube I become oblivious to the passage of time. I get lost in the plethora of videos. I watch one video after another. YouTube shorts are entertaining resulting in doom scrolling.
How much time do you spend on social media? At what time of the day do you spend most watching videos?
I usually watch educational videos in the evening but mostly entertainment videos in the morning after sending my daughter to school.

I spend approximately 30 minutes in social media including youtube. This is for entertainment. I do use youtube for learning and that might wary day to day. I did notice few years I was getting glued to social media especially youtube. I strictly implemented the 30 minute window and now I am following the same. It helps me to be productive on the tasks and activities . Plus, mindless browsing would no good unless you are in aterrible mood and just recovering. In my free time , I mylot and read different discussions and enjoy them. Guess you would have to control your time in social media. Enjoy the day!

I watch YouTube A LOT, or more like leave it running in the background while I do other tasks.
With other social media platforms, I'm lucky I get bored easily. What steals my time is engaging in the comment section, but I usually hold back.
Shorts require more attention as I need to scroll through them, so I prefer playing longer videos. However, the time it takes to find a good video will never come back.

Reading comments...hahaha. Sometimes, it is more entertaining or irritating than the video itself. There are substantial comments and there are flat-out rude, condescending comments.

The most time I spend on social media is Mylot, if one considers Mylot social media. I’m on Facebook maybe twice a week for ten minutes per check in, while I hardly spend any time on YouTube (I’m probably missing a lot). So about 45 minutes on Mylot is what I usually involve myself in social media wise. Which is a whole lot better than when I first joined 18 years ago! Eighteen years ago I would spend hours on Mylot in one sitting! Of course, it had more members back then so you never ran out of things to respond to.

I love short videos on YouTube, actually I got hooked on Korean drama watching shorts. I curb my time now, but I used to watch almost all day. It is very addicting.
